What pen(s) are you using today?

Today it's been the Dove Grey 51 Vac, F (?) nib, newly refilled with Robert Oster Sydney Lavender.

I got in another Pilot Elite today. It's the E95s in black with a fine point. I have the burgundy E95s with medium nib and a vintage black also with a medium. The vintage one writes closer to a fine though.

The E95s pens are among the best writers I have. They're certainly the best writing pocket pens I have.

+1 for Pilot Elites. 🙂👍  I only have 2 a fine and a medium but both are smooth as glass. Definitely among the best writers out there !!

Today I was writing with 3 Chinese pens trying to fill up a Tomoe River 52gsm Notebook.  More specifically, 2 blacks and a blue.

To be even more specific 2 JinHaos and a Wing Sung.  And even more specifically, they were a Blue Jinhao 9019 [M] with my Sailor ink Mixture, a Black Jinhao X159 [M] with Shikiori Nioi-Sumire, and a Black Wing Sung {M} 630 with 'new' Pelikan 4001 Blau-Schwarz.

But what struck me were the nibs.  I like the big Jinhao X159s with their smooth #8 nibs and I've chosen them to be my ink testing pens because they are easily cleaned.  The Blue Jinhao 9019 has the same nib, and an enormous converter but the section is just a little too girthy.  The other black pen, the Wing Sung 630 is the bees knees for comfortable writing... and is the closest thing I have to writing with a Sailor KOP.

Jinhao has done a lot to improve and promote their #8 nibs and now those Jinhao #8s are starting to show up as a nib option for other pens.   With 2 #8 candidates, it seem logical that there's going to be a battle for #8 nib supremacy.  And if Wing Sung puts their fanatic nib in a less expensive and easily cleanable cartridge converter, I think there's a good chance they will come out on top.

Jinhao will have a bigger market if they can produce the eight-size nib in broad, 1.1.,.1,5 , etc.

I think that's just a matter of time...

Today’s pen is the Platinum BelAge UEF, still trying to finish the Platinum Pink cartridge and enjoying the sheen.

Today it's been three pens:

1. Esterbrook SJ Nurse's pen, 1555 Gregg nib -- finishing a fill of modern Quink Permanent Blue.  Getting up the energy to flush the pen out -- over the weekend it decided to start burping into the cap, which meant of course that ink ended up on the threads, and was just a horrible mess when I was trying to use it in an antiques mall (taking notes about what I saw in what booth, so I could have someone open the relevant display cases -- but of course also trying to frantically wash ink off my hands before I did so.. :().

2. Reform c/c pen (don't know the model, but it's got the Westinghouse logo on it), EF(?) nib -- still with a somewhat dried out cartridge of Edelstein Amethyst left over from swag from my first Pelikan Hub.

3. Noodler's acrylic Konrad "Forbidden City", diluted Noodler's Heart of Darkness.

I'm using a Kaweco Special at the moment.  It's a pencil-thin metal fountain pen and perfect to take along for those 'out and about' days.

If Wing Sung doesn't beat them too it with their slightly larger, bouncy nib.

If you had a choice which one would you pick and why?

I'm finishing the last of the ink in the CS Churchill before cleaning it and inking the Duro for its turn as 'the duty pen'.
