What pen(s) are you using today?

@USG...I'm not completely certain, but if the ink has faded to gray in the bottle, it could be IG.  I know the old Pelikan Blue Black certainly was.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Given the way the color changes on the page as it dries, I'm increasingly convinced that the modern version of 4001 Blue Black is also an IG ink -- not with as heavy an IG content as some inks, but I'd say definitely more than something like R&K Salix.

Today I am giving a ‘90s black Quink cartridge a chance  to see if it flows better than the modern equivalent. I put it into a black Parker 45 Arrow with a fine octanium nib.

I have one of those. No, wait. I have two of them.

They aren't a bad pen.

CluelessMe doesn't know what "letter counters" are ?  😶

I have 'your' lamp in my Amazon cart. 😃👍

Letter counters are the holes in letters, like the middle of an “O”. My writing is on the small side, and when using anything larger than a fine nib I have to almost choreograph my movements so my writing is legible.

I really like this lamp,  it can even be used as a grow light for plants in the winter. The base it a little big, but otherwise it’s fine.

've found a lot of the Chinese nibs are initially on the dry side. 🤷‍♂️

It could have just been the ink, I switched to 4001 dark green and now it’s fine.

This sounds like a beautiful combination, there’s a Demonstrator Pen Club thread in this forum that needs a picture of it.

Today I'm pulling my Osprey Scholar out of the junk drawer. The pen never worked very well with G nibs but it turns out that an Esterbrook 314 Relief fits and writes just fine.

Still with my trusty Diplomat A2 that, even though it is a c/c, never seems to finish its ink.  It must be because it has an EF nib.

Erick

Using right now:

Jinhao 9019 "EF" nib running Birmingham Railroad Spike

Leonardo Officina Italiana Mosaico Anemone "F" nib running Diamine Autumn Oak

Pineider Tempi Moderni "EF" nib running Montblanc Racing Green

Stipula Suprema Foglio d'Oro "M" nib running Van Dieman's Royal Starfish

A2 is on my short list for next acquisition--I've heard they have one of the better/smoother steel nibs around.

Hmm. Pens of the day -- Kaweco Special, Wyvern 404, and the Onoto Highland green Scholar.  One must really try a Kaweco Special to appreciate it.  It is pencil slender, has a screw-on cap that also screws on to the barrel for balance, and never dries out despite being left unused for a fortnight or more.

Today it's been the (as yet not ID'd model) Senator "calligraphy" pen, M-ish stub(?) nib, and the unknown reconstituted black ink (possibly modern Skrip Black) that was in it when I went to flush the pen out after buying it.

Today I used a red Pilot Varsity, Platinum Preppy, and my new Indigo TWSBI Eco (broad). Inked the ECO with Diamine Deep Dark Blue and it glides on the page.

Today’s Log Book pen is a Kaweco AL in Anthracite with a F nib, using a cartridge of Kaweco Midnight Blue. I put the last 1.1mm nib I bought on the deep red AL Sport, so I have to use the nib this pen came with.

My writing is on the small side too.  I mostly get the "letter counters" with my fine nibs.  Mediums are hit an miss with a lot of the holes filled in, but it's still legible...  😀

I wanted to follow up on this.  Which flowed better? The new ink or the old?

I have a bottle of Omas Blue from the late '90s that has faded to gray.  Do you think that's Iron Gall?

I have both vintage 4001 blue-black and new.  Is there any way to detect Iron Gall ink?
