I had been using a Ranga Samurai for the past 5 months, but today I inked up the Lamy 2000 EF to take me into 2024.  It is filled with Diamine Delamere Green and is pictured with the Lamy 2000 Fine fountain pen and the Lamy 2000 ballpoint.

Sailors and Pilots and Jinhao's Oh My....

LateToThePartyMe:

I've discovered in my ink test investigations that it's a lot more complicated than I originally though.  What I'm doing now is getting an 'overview' by using a wide variety of inks in an array of very similar pens, the Jinhao X-159s specifically.  That allows me to see how inks behave in general, wet, dry, free flowing, spreading, penetrating, etc. and what characteristics they have, like shading, sheening, shimmering, and on what papers they exhibit their greatest effect.  To that end I've narrowed it down to Cosmo Snow paper as being the paper that demonstrates the greatest effects for a wide variety of inks.

Anyway, some of today's pens:

And the difference between:

And on 75gsm Cosmo Snow paper (I know the magnification is off)

Sailor x Daimaru Central Rockhopper Penguin PGS mini, Sailor Wonder Blue

Pilot Silvern Dragon IB, Iroshizuku Kiri-Same

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

My daily writer fountain pen is an Ellington Stealth. Someone referred me to them and I order a pen and love it. The price is right ($39.95) and it write smooth and doesn't fry out in the Az heat. My other "fountain" is a Yookers Metris (felt tip that uses fountain pen ink). I have some Waterman Phileas pens and a couple of Lamays that dry out too fast here in the hear.

TWSBI 580 original Demonstrator with a Pendleton Brown Stub nib on a base of the basic broad nib.

Bought it long ago at a pen show and it is one of my go (back) to pens. Using Iroshizuku Yama Budo ink.

Today's journal pen is a Sailor ProfitLight Shining Blue with a 14k extra fine nib and Sailor Blue Black ink. It arrived yesterday so we're still getting used to each other. It's exquisitely fine and began a little dry, but became smoother and easier to use after the first few pages.

The sparklies in the ever-so-slightly translucent resin are fun and look good with the gold trim.

Will work for pens...

That's a very nice looking pen! But it deserves a shinier ink than Sailor blue-black 😂

(or maybe the shiny pen compensates for the dullness of Sailor BB?)

Did you try the Büroservice Bergmann inks? With Platinum Blue-black, I think that's my favorite. It dries very quickly though!

Very Nice.  14K nib and built in Shimmer.

And of course you like Blue-Black.  I like it too.👍🙂

Me:

Learning to use a Brush Pen.  It's going to take a lot of practice.

I got some new paper, View Corona 52gsm.  The reviewer I read said they couldn't tell the difference between View Corona 52gsm and Tomoe River 52gsm. I don't know about that.

I got the 'White' paper, only to find out there's a better grade, 'Bright White', but I didn't see that one when I ordered.  It's very thin and crinkly but it wasn't very good for ink effects.  The only inks that did anything were the Diamie Shaders and Shimmer... Polar Glow, Majestic Blue and Jack Frost (below).  It has a slick surface and there was no feathering, ghosting or bleeding except a Sharpie.  You could probably write on the back but when I turned it over to write, it was so translucent the writing on the page under it was more distracting than the writing on the other side.
