Today's journal pen was a Pilot Kakuno loaded with Teranishi Orchestra Tangerine. I wrote with it yesterday with the fine nib the pen came with (second photo), but found it too fine and the ink looked orange, rather than the burnt orange I was looking for. I knew from my swatch it could do better than that so I swapped in the CM nib from an unloved Pilot MR - that's better, I think - but still a little dry.

So far today it's been the Pelikan M205 Blue Marbled, with Pelikan 4001 Blue Black (an ink I'm liking VERY much, both for color and behavior).

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

... oh, and a Platignum Silverline with broad oblique italic nib has also come out to play. It's a real shame that these nibs went out of production.

This morning it's been the white Estie SJ (not sure if it's a "nurse's pen" or considered a part of the "pastel" lineup), 1555 Gregg nib, still with modern Quink Permanent Blue.

I must say that for a pen with fold-over tines and no tipping, BOTH my Esties with the 1555 nibs write exceedingly well.

The mere mention of Platignum brings back many fond memories.

Well, I finally drank the Kool-Aid and just purchased the Pilot Custom 823 in Amber and Smoke today. That will carry me through to the end of the year, unless something else pops up. August is always a dangerous month given all of the stationary stuff flying onto the shelves as 2024 planners, journals, and all the goodies that go along with it coupled with the Inkvent Calendar and holiday stuff.

Again the Pilot Custom 67, and - just to add a little variety - a Kaweco AL Special nib holder with a Mudie's Squeezer pen.

I've been using a earlier Sailor demonstrator. I think it's from the 70s maybe earlier. The person I bought it from said it was vintage but that's such a broad term. I intially hated it because I was told it was semi flex (it's not-at least not unless your a gorilla) and a bit of a nail. That said, It's a really smooth fine writer so I have KWZI Monach loaded in it and they seem to work well together.

Today's journal pen is a Sailor Lecoule Lapis Lazuli (ultramarine) MF filled with Sailor Blue, both obtained with a gift voucher. 💙

By default, the Onoto Highland green Scholar.  The Lamy was the plan of the day until (doh!) I realized it wasn't inked.
