Today's journal pen is a Sailor Shikiori Snowmoon MF with 14K MF nib and a Sailor Black cartridge. It arrived from Japan this morning. I cannot believe that this colour was so unpopular to be worthy of the lowest price in the discounting. It is exquisite. Maybe it wasn't photographed attractively enough.

Jewellery that writes! 🤍

My knowledge may be inaccurate and I think that the color white, in Japanese cultural context, is associated with death. Meanwhile, red is associated with life. That distinction, if accurate, might influence the popularity of certain colors.

Of course I could be wrong, so anyone with more (accurate) knowledge is encouraged to contribute.

You always use inks with interesting names. 😀👍

Yeah, but occasionally that gets me into trouble -- after all, I bought a bottle of Noodler's Harold's Hearse, based on the name, at the Noodler's table at the Commonwealth Pen Show a few years ago -- and I absolutely HATE the color.... :headsmack:

I think you're correct about the cultural context of the color white (as opposed to here in the West, where it's black (and sometimes purple).

Ruth, I think you may have let yourself get carried away at the table.

The upside of this years cancelled show is it can't happen again.

It’s a Fine nib, paper varies by what I am doing that day. My daily journal is a Cartotecnica Monzese for Cavallini blank book, and my agenda this year is from Universe Publishing via Rizzoli. I wrote with it in those.
Right now, I’m starting my day with the Geha 707 with it’s custom teal ink mix, but will be inking my matte black Sheaffer Targa with a Slovenian purple Sheaffer cartridge at some point later in the day.

I Just noticed your fancy paper.... 😀👍

Use the Nadeshiko (who, coincidentally- just got together for the Women’s World Cup) in the 1911L. I love both Sumire and Nadeshiko, they are both slated for addition to my ink collection. I was distracted by the last bottle of Koke (in that store) when I was looking at them.

I have them the other way around.  The Nadeshiko is in the KOP, but I have to tell you, it doesn't shade from that pen like it does from my Pilot art flower pen or my Waterman Patrician.  I also tried it in a Pelikan M800 [M], which has a very wide line, and it didn't shade that well in that pen either.... but the ultimate star, (in terms of shading, sheening, haloing), of the Sailor inks (that I have) is Yamabuki on Cosmo Snow paper. 👍

Speaking of Koke, have you been able to get it to dual shade?  I have Fuji and it's supposed to be a dual shader too, but no matter what I do I can't get the green to come out (unless a drop of water gets near a dried line).

So far, I have only swatched it onto a Co-Lo-Ring, so I think I might try a few inks on TR or 35 NFC  this weekend . Here’s what the swatch looks like (again, excuse the lighting and my amateurish attempt at getting the photo to look like the  IRL swatch):

Boring, boring, boring; that's me -- and my pen/ink selection. The Gravitas Entry filled with Blackbird inks' blue has the duty today.

It is yellow green, but a really sort of nasty bilious yellow-green (basically more yellow, with sort of neon green undertones).
