What pen(s) are you using today?

A Smug Dill

A Narwhal Schuylkill Sapphire w/ rose gold trim and a 1.1 nib. Using Diamine Sapphire Blue ink. Also, still enjoying my LAMY 2K with an OM nib and LAMY Amazonite ink.

In fact, I may  have found my preferred nib style - an OM. I will have to test out at least one or two more before I am more confidant with that statement.

driest inks I can find.

Have you tried Herbin’s Diabolo Menthe? It’s a light aqua that I find very dry. I also find yellow colored ink to be dry most of the time, orange sometimes.

I’m really enjoying my old style Pelikan M400 with an OM nib.  I’m also contemplating getting my next Lamy z series gold nib in OM, but can definitely recommend the older Pelikans. I haven’t tried a new Pelikan in oblique yet to compare.

The 'yellow pen comes....but I like to BS a bit.

I must have gotten tired of Kon-Peki blue, in this 1959 three true ring Geha 790 maxi-semi-flex stubbed  EF....original picture the three rings polished up nicely with a gold sunshine cloth.

I was upset for a few seconds when I realized it wasn't the OEF marked on the pen but it wasn't semi-flex; but maxi-semi=flex.......and it didn't take me long to think.....EF was narrow in semi-maxi enough with out looking for an Oblique that I normally wouldn't be able to see.

So I kept the pen..the seller probably didn't know enough to know the nib wasn't the Oblique the marking said  on the piston cap.  It was affordable way back in the then

oWb4qI2.jpg

A nice picture better than I could take of a Geha (Degussa made) nib..a even better picture of a Geha nib is in the red pen pictures.98lcPfy.jpg of that era. The stubbed German nibs of this era also have a very nice clean line.

This is the 'three rings of Geha after '59-71/2. Just in case you start chasing Geha.WotaRYp.jpg

There is there version that matches the Pelikan 140 with two rings...school pens have no rings but a normal clip ring. I somehow never got one of the 2 ring pens...:headsmack:

I do have the 780 in Green, .....this and the red ones I missed out on, are twice as expensive as the 'normal' black and gold 790's. The black Geha 790's and their  regular flex school pens are best buys in both Semi-flex and regular flex for the school pens. ..@ €60 for the black and gold  790...The black and gold 790 is a very well balanced pen...(the Degussa made nibs are a tad more springy that the 140/400/400nn nibs)..and so very in in the '50-60's, when torpedo/cigar shaped pens were so in. The Swan torpedo, the Pelikan 120/140 the Geha and some company called MB...146/9. 5rhiDcF.jpgand finished second:crybaby: for a red one and a gold capped red one.

.................................................

This is a marbled brown Pelikan 200 EF...now loaded with MB Irish Green.

Brown/yellow depending on how you turn it.

Even finer than the picture. I got this picture and pen from Fritz.

I asked him for the narrowest EF he had in the shop and it was one of the last tear drop tipped nibs. Writes with the expected nice clean line of a tear dropped nib.

Bobo, that is a gorgeous brown marbled Pelikan. One of my earliest fountain pens is a blue marbled M200.  I remember at the pen store they also had a red marbled M200 that I debated about getting and I opted for the blue one thinking it was more popular.  I've never seen another red marbled M200 again in the wild, and I kick myself to this day I did not get that red marbled Pelikan.  I've developed a soft spot for red and burgundy pens over the years.

Today it's been the Parker Vacumatic Red Shadow Wave, F nib, still with Waterman Mysterious Blue.

But for the most part I've spent way too much time on the computer today, including being on the phone with Apple Support (yes, AGAIN ) because of the directions I was told in the Support call on Monday didn't seem to be working right. So, an hour with the first person, and then roughly an hour with a senior advisor (during which he had a power outage and had to call me back a while later... ).

We'll see if the issue has been fixed THIS time....

I like the Louis; I always think the others are too narrow.  I have the same problem with many of Waterman's pens.

Killer art deco design, though!

How do you like them? Do they write well?

Every once in a while I see second hand Cartier pens for sale here locally, sometimes at good prices, but not low enough to buy on impulse. I've been curious but will probably not get a chance to try one before I buy.

Good, quality made pens but not fantastic (in my opinion, of course)

Louis is a rather large pen, about Montblanc 146 size. Not very heavy, but heavier than Montblanc, about 30-32 grams. Nib — Bock #6, 18k, very well polished, very smooth, rather wet. Screw cap, c/c. Overall quality is high, nice looking.

Must de — slim pen (I don't really like thin pens, although I have about 8-10 in my collection). Pen is very similar to Montblanc Noblesse type 4 or Dunhill Gemline. I think that this pen has the same nib as in Noblesse, but with ebonite feed. Writes without complaint: not dry, not wet, smooth enough. C/c, slip cap.

Good pens, but I prefer Montblanc :)

I’ll check my ink journal for other inks that stood out as very dry for you as well. I just remember that with this one in particular I had to dip the glass pen into it way more often and it kinda squeaks it’s so dry.  It’s one of the ones you can get in the tiny bottle.

I just looked at the ink sample on Vanness- there were blank spots in tbe sample!  There’s bound to be an ink that tames your firehose,

@USG whether it matches your pen or not remains to be seen.
