What pen(s) are you using today?

Today was my Montblanc 149 with Monteverde Midnight Black.  I've used almost the entire bottle on that pen.

So far today I've used my Montblanc 149 and Montblanc Starwalker ballpoint. I have a few more on hand but not too many class notes today...

Today it's been the blue Cross Solo, B nib, with Diamine Blue Edition Gingerbread (one of the original "Inkvent" calendar colors.  Bought it a while back simply because I wanted one of the cool little boxes with feet.  And discovered that the ink itself is quite nice -- a warm medium-light brown (and really does sort of look like the color gingerbread really is) with a bit of shading.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

A Pilot Custom 92 with a fine nib and Sailor Doyou. It was skipping a little to begin with - my fault - it has sat in the drawer inked and unused for far too long. All I had to do was touch the nib to a tissue to draw some ink though and that flushed it out. There. Perfect. Love this pen. It won't be sitting neglected or forgotten again.

Exiting my pen roll this weekend is this Majohn Q1.

I did not expect it to perform as well as it did. It is nearly impossible to use unposted and it's girth is off-putting for the first few minutes of use.

And then the magic starts. I thought I wouldn't able to write in my usual small handwriting and be forced to use a large hand but it was actually the other way around: the Extra Fine nib allowed me to write smaller than usual.

Because of its huge capacity, it is leaving circulation after three months! A pleasant surprise indeed.

Today's journal pen is the Lamy Al-Star Gold 2020 Special Edition that arrived here yesterday. I was concerned it maybe too blingy for me, but not at all, the black clip, nib and ends tone perfectly with the body, which while 'gold' is lightly matte. Perfect. And the exciting part: it came with a BLACK cartridge! I thought Lamy pens always shipped with blue. How on earth did this beauty slip under the radar without it being talked about here? 2020, I'm guessing...

Gab not only sent me a replacement bottle of Milky Ocean, just in case the one I bought from Cult Pens was a mislabelled item, but also a full bottle of Foxglove as well, by DHL Express service to Australia no less! Such wondrous customer service! I was astounded by Troublemaker Inks' generosity.

Anyway, as it turned out, the ink I had on hand — of which I sent @AmandaW a sample — is neither Foxglove nor Milky Ocean; but I'm unable to make any positive identification of what it actually is. It is apparently more different from either of those inks than they are from each other.

So, Amanda, I'll send you samples from those two straight-from-the-source Troublemaker Inks later, probably along with some other stuff that can also fit inside a ‘large letter’.
