You may want to check around for a Nemosine .6mm or .8mm italic nib. I had (and may still have one or two somewhere) from quite awhile back. They are a #6 size (IIRC) and made to fit western pens. Today's journal pen is a Wing Sung 3003 (a Pilot Prera look-alike, but in reality a slightly bigger pen) with a transplanted Pilot CM (Calligraphy Medium) nib. The ink is Robert Oster Motor Oil.

 

Below that, for comparison, is an older photo of a Pilot Prera with a Calligraphy Fine nib  - it just says F on the nib - that I transplanted from a Pilot Pluminix. I thought the Fine italic was now only available in one of the Enso lettering sets, but a search just now turned up a seller of Pluminix with fine and broad stubs on AliExpress, but I don't know how good they are. If they're the same - they're good!

Thank you!  I do too! I've only recently taken her out of the 'rotation' just to try some of my other pens.  I doubt she will be sat idle for long. Just like in real life... The 20% do 80% of the work....🤔....🤣

The difference is subtle. To my eye the M nib here is the same width as the CM. Should I photo that too?

That's because they actually are the same! Pilot did something weird with their italic nib naming.

I just got a nice Vernier calipers and later today I will try to find some time to create a thread about the various Pilot italic nib widths. (I do not currently have the one labeled "CM" though.)

OK - this makes sense now. The "M" nib (2nd from left) is the 78g M. Note that it matches the line width of the B (at least to my eye), which is from the Plumix, which is what I would expect.

 

But now the narrow width of the CM is a mystery to me because I had assumed, as well as told and have read numerous times, that the Prera CM is the same as the 78g B and Plumix/Pluminix M. I've avoided buying a Prera (not a pen that interests me and rare to find 2nd hand in Thailand) but now I'm curious ...

OK. More journal pages today to put the Pilot Metropolitan CM to the test to compare it with the Wing Sung 3003 with its transplanted Pilot M (italic). Both are loaded with Robert Oster Motor Oil. Same Clairefontaine notebook. The M nib is definitely writing drier than the CM and I think that alone might be enough to make it look so different in the photo of the nibs above.
