What pen(s) are you using today?

After cleaning up the cartridge leak in my brown Falcon 50, I dragged out my original Flighter and inked it with 1864. Aside from occasional skips and some railroading on slick post-it, it's fine but ... attractive as Parker Flighters are, they're slick as pig poop.

For me, Curiously, the Watermans turned out to be the pens to which all others are compared. 🙂

 

I also found that posting the cap made each one of the pens write smoother and diminished feedback, so, I never was, but now I am, a cap poster. 🙂

If you like the look of the beasts, unused ones can still be had on FleaBay, sometimes for less than £15.

 

They’re made of brass, so they are fairly ‘hefty’. The only nib options were ‘F’ and ‘M’.

Their nibs are the same as those in the Vector and Jotter.

I no longer ‘post’ mine, after wearing off some of the lacquer on my first, ‘Navy Blue’ one (at the bottom of that photo, in which my execrable photography makes it looks black).

They were available in other colours/styles, many of which had gold trim and gold-plated nibs.

 

Thanks for the 'heads up' I'll keep a look out.  I no longer post my pens either, even though some would probably feel better balanced (eg Parker 51?)

 

Talking of Parker Vectors ...would you believe I have a Parker Vector Rollerball 'Promotional pen' that carries my then companies logo. The refill still 'works as it should' to this day.....unattended and without any encouragement....the company was sold by it's 'Holding company' in .... 1994 😮 😮😮  Ironically, the same type of rollerball refill dried completely within a month or two in my Parker 51 RB🙁

Last night I inked my new Hongdian Forest black EF with Diamine Red Dragon- I had to give up on first in, first inked after the Penguin pen presentation, because I lost track of who got here when. As some of those are more novelty than everyday, I switched the c/c’s to more everyday pens. I also switched to a blue Ooly (ink is an Ooly blue, which is more of a turquoise)and the chrome Sheaffer Fashion II 240 with Slovenian Skrip Blue.The Sheaffer has a very Sailor like EF nib, which feels rather different from the other Sheaffer EF nib I have on the 440.

My Parker 51 Burgundy and Bejing Jinxing 28 have both run out of ink at the

same time. 🙁 And need a clean as I want to change inks in both. 🙁  So I've only had my Parker 25 fillled with Pelikan Bl/Bk available today. Pulled the nib from my (Chinese) Dolce-Vita Naranja today and ordered a new one off ebay. Never done any 'repairs' before so we'll have to see how that goes. 🤣

Today's Swan and Tiger Snake combination has been great fun!

The nib is a #2 (OM) with a very pleasing spring to it.

 

Hope this is as close as I ever get to a snake bite!!

They are really eye catching and I absolutely love mine.

The ink is well suited I think and is called, Tiger Snake, from the, "Tassie Seasons", range from Van Dieman's Ink Tasmania, Australia.

 

US stockists are fairly easy to find I believe.

1. Conklin Endura Deco Crest — Gunmetal + orange/amber, with OmniFlex nib. Inked with De Atramentis Archive Black

2. TWSBI 580 ALR — Prussian Blue, with M nib. Inked with Birmingham Pen Co. Burnt Walnut, which I adore beyond reason.

Cleaned my Bejing Jinxing 28 today and filled it  with Diamine Sherwood Green. 😍 She's writing a bit wet at the minute as it's nigh on impossible to get the sac 'dry'. It's been a while since I've used this ink so I hope we get some good results.

My sister-in-law was bit by a baby rattlesnake a number of years back.  Ended up not needing anti-venom, but still had to stay in the hospital for 24 hours.  Don't walk around barefoot without a flashlight...

 

I always have found the Van Dieman's too dry for my pens, but they are finer than an OM.

Today it's been several pens, starting with one I found that I do NOT remember having -- or even acquiring, for that matter.  It's some Osmiroid pen (don't know the model) which does NOT look like the one from the "India Ink Pen" set I bought a few years ago at an estate sale of someone who was an artist.  Found it on the floor outside the bedroom last night, under the hutch part of my grandparents' old dresser (it just fits the space between the door opening and the bump-out into the hallway from the next room over), along with what looks like part of a plastic case. Although this one does also appear to say "India Ink Pen on the nib (not sure of the nib with but it might be an EF).  I went to flush it out, and reconstituted some unknown (but shiny looking) black ink -- very black and very saturated.

Also used the pink Parker Vector, F nib, with diluted Van Dieman Moonflower; and the Hudson's Bay Fathom Noodler's Konrad, flex nib, with diluted/reconstituted Noodler's 54th Massachusetts.
