What pen(s) are you using today?

Love these - are you just using the reverse of the nib for the brush-style strokes?

Yes, the Midori MD pen's nib is slightly downcurved allowing for reverse-nib brushing --- and the geometry/shape of the top of the nib lends itself to really slopping the ink around.

What have you done with the cat? It looks half dead.

Thank you - that makes it rather tempting!

I don’t need a reason to buy a Vector. I love them!

Yeah, me neither.

When I saw the Shrek "Puss in Boots" one on eBay a couple of years ago (and from a vendor I've bought from in the past) I just HAD to have it.  Didn't like the "Shrek" or "Donkey" ones that another vendor had, the the "Puss in Boots" pen just made me laugh.

Of course if they had done a "Fiona" Vector I'd want that one too, but suspect I'd have to fight carola over it and she's pretty fierce.

They both produce 'shading' with this ink and try as I might I can't get either of them to 'skip'. I've never taken a fountain pen to work because of the nature of my job, but the P25 is a 'work horse' So I've put it on a Work Trial 😄  Can it 'compete' with a ballpoint at work?

4001 Blue-black is a nice ‘shader’, and works well on most sorts of paper - it may be the perfect ‘grown-up’ ink for work.

I predict that your P25 will actually be better than a BP for work - not least because fewer people are likely to steal it from you!

Everyone who has ever worked for any large organisation knows (from bitter experience) that it is easier for a thick rope to pass through the eye of a needle than it is to wheedle a new office ballpoint out of the grasp of the Keeper of the Stationery!

As such, they tend to ‘evaporate’ off desks, never to be seen again.

🤣🤣🤣   Indeed.  I've 'lost' quite a few 'Biros' 🙂  (None worth anything)  I've got reaquainted with more than one from other staff members that I've seen using them 😲

Our stationery pens are a very nasty 'Bic Crystal' copy and any Freebies we can prize out of our suppliers /  partners.  Here's a photo of my current EDC.  As you can see I've disguised it to look undesireable 🤣😂 It's lost it's clip which is a real PITA and yes that is sellotape around the joint  However, it's still my daily user, as it has hidden 'features' The section is just the right size for me (large hands and sausages for fingers) and it's like a 'comfort' grip and it takes a 'Parker' style refill. So following good advice I received here, it holds my favourite ballpoint refill a Schmidt P900 in Broad which last an age and are £1 ea in the UK 🙂 Yes, I really did go to the guy who holds the key to our stationery cupboard and ask 'Have we got any pens exactly like this one in the station cupboard' Bless, he bought me something else that was vaguely similar...but horrible to use...

Pelican Blue/Black was the first bottle of ink I've ever purchased and in the 'right' pen is as good as anything I've used (which isn't many to be fair)  If I'm using black, Aurora Black is my 'go to'  A proper 'black' in any pen I've tried it in.

The shape of your, er, customised 😉 pen reminds me of that of the (first series) Parker Urban FP (& rollerball).

If you like the look of the beasts, unused ones can still be had on FleaBay, sometimes for less than £15.

They’re made of brass, so they are fairly ‘hefty’. The only nib options were ‘F’ and ‘M’.

Their nibs are the same as those in the Vector and Jotter.

I no longer ‘post’ mine, after wearing off some of the lacquer on my first, ‘Navy Blue’ one (at the bottom of that photo, in which my execrable photography makes it looks black).

They were available in other colours/styles, many of which had gold trim and gold-plated nibs.

They look right up my street! Thanks for the info.  I'll keep my eye open for one of those...like I 'need' another pen....

I think 'this' is a later Urban BP??  I purchased for exactly that reason....I'm pretty sure this is the packet / box it arrived in??   She's a 'hefty girl' too which is fine, but the section is a bit too 'smooth' for me....and she's more likely to get 'adopted' at work.. I also hate how the P900 refill looks in this pen. 🙁

Actually, that’s a Parker ‘Dimonite’.
From its packaging and clip I would guess that it was made in the 2000s.

Does the rear of its packaging mention ‘Sanford Brands’? Or ‘Newell-Rubbermaid’? Sanford bought Parker from Gillette, and later sold it to N-R.

The current version of the Urban BP does look rather similar to that pen, but it tapers continually to the rear/click-button end of the pen, and the whole upper part of the pen is bare metal.

The first-version Urban BPs were twist-actuated, and they were shaped very much like an ‘upside-down’ version of the first-version Urban FPs shown in my photo.

You know, I'd never noticed that 'Dimonite' on the packaging until I just photographed it.... I'm pretty sure when I purchased it was 'sold' as  an Urban...but I bought it purely on the shape, so no matter... Here's what it looks like with a genuine Parker Med refill...Hmm....not much better at all...maybe even worse...? 🙁IMG_3154.thumb.JPG.256c8d4918adc7f480c8e75fb31428a5.JPG

Is the second from the top a Pilot? It looks like it might be one of the Platinum maki-e that were, I think screen printinted rather than hand painted.

Just curious...

BTW, very nice array of pens... Thank you

Pilot made something along those lines as well: https://item.rakuten.co.jp/e-stationery/s_pilot_004/

Today I'm using my MB 149 from the '80s, and my Lamy 2k, with Monteverde Blue/Black and Rober Oster Great Southern Ocean, respectively.

Kaweco Perkeo Bad Taste F filled with Herbin Noir.

'Tis another of my Dirty Dozen - the pens that are so reliable and well paired with their inks they never get cleaned, only topped up.

Will work for pens...
