Good question!

The end of the ink sac protrudes from its protective sleeve. Simply squeeze this, let go, and you have your fill.  👍

I find this pen particularly eye-catching. What brand/model is it?

I don't think I have ever seen one like it.

Any more information information about it?

Thank you for sharing it.

I just looked at the newer cartridges, and you’re right, they do. I have a mixed bag of Sheaffer cartridges from different eras and the older ones have an end with a middle circle and one without, the end without feels different on the edge.

ETA: I did see both circles on the vintage red cartridge under the magnifying glass. I have never noticed that.

1. Parker 75 (sterling Ciselé, B nib( -- MB Jimi Hendrix.

2. Pilot Metropolitan (Grey/Herringbone Retro Pop, stub nib) -- Namiki Black.

3. Noodler's Konrad (Hudson Bay Fathom, flex nib) -- slightly diluted Noodler's 54th Massachusetts [the pen is getting low on ink, and it's about time to flush it out because it's getting cloggy, but I've been dipping the nib in a Nalgene bottle with distilled water in it to get it re-started].

Hi Gloucesterman. This a picture of the filling system/innards of the pen. The full pen can be seen in a previous post. Have you seen that?

I believe that the Swan Pen Co. was one of Japan's biggest pen manufacturers up to WWII. After that, they struggled.

The swan logo, is VERY reminicent of the "Swan" branding used by Mabie Todd. Also, the nib is stamped with SWAN IDEAL PEN MADE IN JAPAN...the use of IDEAL possibly influenced by Watermans?

Cross Beverly medium nib that has decided once again to play up. The last AT cross product to that to me ended up in the bin after the feed broke on removal for cleaning and would not go back. Neither would the nib expensive lesson learned 18 months or so back. That has given impression I buy expensive pens then bin them. A lot of pens that I have binned have been cheap or moderately priced and a lot was because the nib or pen got damaged and no longer worked

A old Bejing Jinxing A28 filled with Aurora Black....writes way to nicely for a pen costing so little. My only pen that is always inked.

I agree, these are great pens. They are so comfortable to write with as they fit the hand well. I do have to grind their nibs down a bit as I prefer broad pens.

I have small handwriting, so it was perfect out of the box for me.  I can leave it for weeks sometimes without use and it never 'dries out' and writes just how it should when required. I purchased quite a few Chinese pens around 8 years ago as 'retail therapy' and only one performed less than perfectly, and that was because the cap wasn't airtight. But she's such a gorgeous looking thing, I'll live with that. (Just like Richard Gere accepted Cindy Crawford had a beauty mark  🤣🤣🤣)

A black Pelikan M805 with a bi-colour ‘F’ nib, filled with Pelikan 4001 Blau-Schwarz.*

An early 1970s Parker 45 ‘flighter’ with a slightly flexy 14k gold ‘M’ nib**, filled with Waterman ‘Havana’ (a maroon ink that is nowadays sold under the alias “Absolute Brown”).

* this is a particularly good combination of pen & ink for use if I am pretending to be a Grown-up.

** this nib hates me - whatever ink I run through it, the line it produces is finer than a western EF, unless I lean on the nib. Or use Oxford Optik paper, on which it actually works as it should 🤷‍♂️

I always fancied a Pelikan M805 in Tortoiseshell Brown. 😍  I'd have gone for a 'Fine'  nib too....but I watched someone on a YT video using a 3B Pretty amazing to be honest ....
