Burgundy Jinhao x159 with Pelikan Turquoise ink (it was the only ink I had close at hand).

I must admit that I am impressed by this $8.00 pen!

Indeed I had ... though I do have a couple Platinum Meteors.

Today it's been a couple of pens:

Parker Vacumatic Red Shadow Wave, F nib, with reconstituted Waterman Mysterious Blue (let the pen sit for way too long after running it for 3 years with no flushing or other maintenance, and added some water to it yesterday, and it started right up this morning.  But didn't have quite enough of a fill to get through morning pages....

So, the other pen used was the Pelican P22 "MOOVIE", finishing up a fill of Birmingham Armadillo.

I've been using my Conway Stewart pen that arrived on Tuesday. It's been My EDC

this week - 1st broad EDC. I've gone from being near sighted to long sighted, and I hate wearing reading glasses - broader lines are easier to read than fine

The 1864 ink I'm using comes out a very black blue- black but after a couple of days dries into a more conventional blue black somewhere.

I'm getting some hard starts, but I think that will resolve itself after a couple of weeks.

Nice writer. I only wish I were writing something worth writing.

Today, I am carrying an Aurora 88 Minerale. The one with a red finial. It has a factory Italic - the older kind that was a nice cursive italic out of the box. It's inked with a black ink (I can't recall which one. Maybe Pelikan.).

However, I will probably use a bunch of different pens in the course of the day.

TL;DR: A Montblanc 121 from the 1970s. Burgundy color, inked with Diamine Syrah. With a special nib, regular 18k F/EF turned into an artisanal Concord shape.

I used it to draw this cat:

Now, the pen: see Figures 1-3.

Figure 1. Pen, next to writing and doodling samples. Note this is not the cat I drew today; this is of course the Fantasy Cat and nobody can confuse the two! 😉

Figure 2. And the Concord-shaped nib, after writing normally, so E/EF.

Figure 3. The same nib, but writing in reverse. That enables the Concord 'brush' (the reverse Fude) to draw broad strokes, 2.1-2.2 mm wide.

Enjoy the day!

Lovely drawing. Turns out it's the painter, not the instrument - although I consider the Preppys to be very nice pens -.

I like very much also your control of the water brush.

Thanks for sharing.

Another nice pen DMS, I didn't know about that one, had to look it up...

I have an Aurora Italic nib, is that the same as the cursive Italic on your pen?

Hi ISR, I just picked up my revitalized Parker 45 with reconstituted Penman Mocha ink and it made me think of your post.....😀

It might not be an extra.  I had a pen (although it might have been a Parker 21, not a 45) for which the clutch ring was actually two pieces that fit together.  I found this out the hard way, when trying to reassemble the pen after a thorough cleaning, and discovered that I couldn't get the hood back on correctly (THEN discovered that part of the clutch ring had gone down the drain -- I was lucky in that it got caught in the trap and DIDN'T end up in the water system, and the pen is back in one piece).

And now?  I make sure I have a dishpan in my bathroom sink before I take a pen apart, so it doesn't happen again....

@USG Your pen has an extra ring next to the clutch ring that I've not seen before. Did you add it? Compare to this https://parker45pens.files.wordpress.com/2015/06/parker-45-flighter-stripped-labelled.jpg

What appears to be an extra ring is just a flange on the end of the clutch ring that acts as a stop for the cap to protect the plastic barrel.  I'm guessing that a flighter doesn't have that because the cap engages a metal barrel..

On further inspection, my Parker 45 doesn't have flanges on the inner cap.  What we are referring to as the clutch ring, has protrusions on it that engage with bottom edge of the cap when it's posted.  On my pen, these protrusions are quite worn down and the cap is not held on tightly.
