It's a "burnt orange" batch I did when I got the uniflow last year --- according to my notes it is roughly 4-parts diamine ancient copper and 1-part kon-peki.

Nice mixology!

That sounds off, mixing blue with ancient copper. Do you think that's what you did? You ended up with a nice color!

My Ancient Copper seems (to me) to lean orange, so I recall thinking a little blue would push it browner --- whether it is now 'burnt orange', 'bronzish', or just brownish, I don't know, but with a little water-brushing, its shades hit many of the hues on the pen.

What have you done with the cat? It looks half dead.

More festive fun...

Vintage Conway Stewart 286's, from the later 1930s maybe. These 286's are a tad brighter in colour than the average runs of red and green.

The red version is sometimes referred to as raspberry.

That's an interesting mix.  I would not thought to have put a cerulean blue ink with an orange/copper colored one and NOT have it turn into a complete muddy mess....

So tell me Shamwari, do you like Parker pens or is this just a relationship of convenience?

Seriously, that's a nice array of nibs sizes and pens.

Enjoy... and Happy Holiday

Thanks!

😂 You spotted it!  Apart from a Cross Apogee which my wife gave me, my favourite pen is the Parker 51 and I'm lucky enough to have a few.  I've also got a couple of 61s as the capillary filling system intrigued me and I like the heritage rainbow gold caps that were available for them.

At school most of us had Parker 45s and I had forgotten how nicely they wrote until a few years ago when I wanted to try some different nibs - getting an oblique nib unit for a 45 was a lot cheaper than getting a 51 or 61 with an oblique nib or getting an oblique nib for a 51 or 61 and having it fitted so the 45s are multiplying on my desk.  I also like trying different ink colours and 45s are a lot easier to flush than 51s or 61s.  I did manage to get one 51 with an oblique nib though, being the 51 in the photo.

So, yeah, I'm very keen on Parkers (and Diamine ink!)

Happy Holiday to you too!

Yeah, all my Vacs post.  Pens where you can't post the cap drive me nuts.

I don't know what you consider to be "outrageously priced".  I didn't pay a huge amount for the pen when I first got it, but had to have repairs done a couple of times, which has pushed the total price up.

Well, I was going to buy a PenBBS Vac, but was told they didn't post.

I bought four(!) Wing Sung vacs in various nib sizes, and- wait for it- they don't post!

The Asvine isn't my taste, and all of the pictures show it unposted.

Viscontis are outrageously priced for my budget, though that doesn't mean they are a poor value.

Great pens... the Parker 45 was my school pen too 👍 It was burgundy with a steel nib [M] and cap.  Now I can't find it.  Maybe you've seen it around... 🤪

Congratulations!

Very nice, and a gold trim Classic with the Lustraloy cap.  Definitely one up on my school pens which had plastic caps!   It was only towards the end of my school years that I got one a silver trim one with the Lustraloy cap and felt very grown up!  From memory I think we had to use fountain pens from Standard 3 in Primary school all the way through Secondary school - biros not allowed.

It's only in the last few years that I've really appreciated what a great pen the 45 is as previously I had underrated it due to it being my 'school pen'.
