What a fabulous dragon! Is this the same blue black mix you used for the birds?

Thanks. Ans yes, same ink mix.

What have you done with the cat? It looks half dead.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

@jandrew I love your dragon. Expressive face, and a great dragon overall.

Thanks!

Today it's been the recently repaired Vac Silver Pearl Major, F (I think) nib, with Waterman Tender Purple.

These two....

But here's the problem.  I can't figure out what ink is in the Omas Paragon.  It's a very dark rich blue.  It smells like Parker blue black but when I compared it to Parker Blue black, it's a different color, more blue less green.  It's not a purple blue like Aurora or Waterman.  It doesn't smell like a Diamine ink, although colorwise it's close to to Diamine Sapphire blue and not as dark as Sargasso.  My list of which pens have which inks says I put Private Reserve American blue in it but it looks deeper and bluer than American blue, but maybe because the Paragon is so wet.  Then I'm thinking that what I'm seeing is a mixture of what ever ink I put in the pen, possibly American blue, and the residue of some unknown ink that wasn't fully removed when I cleaned out the pen.  But I cleaned the pen with RapidoEze.

Problems like this can keep you up at night....:gaah:

I can relate. Chromatography is probably the solution, if you really want to put the question to bed.

Ah ha, a very clever solution. 👍

I was comparing an ink patch from the Paragon to all my blue inks with no success.

I've seen the kind of color differential you illustrated when using the same ink with dry and wet nibs.  The Paragon has a very wet nib so it's completely possible the color I'm seeing is due to the quantity of ink it lays down.  Even though I was aware of it I didn't think of it.   If there's enough ink left in the Paragon, I'll see if I can manage some chromatography.

As long as I have you here, who makes the best Parker 51 homage?

Pilot Urushi Vermilion (FM) with Akkerman 7. I have been writing for 6 hours now, and the pen is starting to fatigue my hand. Will switch to pilot 95 Elite (EF) with Aurora Sepia once I am done eating.

Just curiosity..and an idle Sunday morning..but what pray tell would you spend over 6 hours writing? Might we have a new novel in the works??  😃👻🤖🕵️♂️🕵️♀️

Hmmm....might make a good thread: What was your longest continuous writing session with a fountain pen, & what were you writing?

Coffee....I need more coffee!! LOL

I've only seen pics of a Pilot Urushi Vermilion. Quite a pen from what I've seen.  Want to talk about it?🙂

Wow Pilot Elite EF...  Impressive, is it a real needle? Smooth? 🙂

I bought a fine in 2014 and only used it with a pocket notebook because it was very fine.  In Sept. of this year I decided I need a medium.  The fine was dry normal and the medium is wet. Both are smooth writers.  Enjoyable pens. 👍🙂

That would be my first guess.  Or they were doing research and taking copious notes, or writing letters to people, or maybe (given the time of year) Christmas cards....

As for your suggestion for a thread?  Interesting.  I don't generally pay that much attention, but did a 3-4 stint a few days ago for a story.  Which might end up as a prologue or afterwards for a novel....  (The story plot is that the narrator inadvertently meets the two people that major characters are based on after the book becomes a surprise bestseller and the narrator gets invited to appear on a major TV talk show to talk about it...  And at one point, one of the [real] people goes "Hey, have we met before?  Because my wife read your book and says I'm JUST like one of the characters...."  And of course the narrator's response is, "Yeah, we've met before -- 15 or 20 minutes ago in the Green Room!"

Today: Pilot MR Animal Collection in crocodile black with black Parker Quink & Noodler's Ahab in jade green with Monteverde key lime ink.

They're band new I'm priming both of them on a regular quality notebook.

I just inked up a Sailor Clear Candy with a Chinese rose colored shimmer ink named CX-19. The feed channel looked wide enough for shimmer and the Lecoule likes these inks, so I figured it was worth trying.

Top 5 of 19 currently inked pens:

MontBlanc 144 IB, Herbin Orange Indien/ Wearingeul Frost

Sailor x Daimaru Central Rockhopper Penguin PGS mini, Sailor Wonder Blue

Parker 88 Place Vendôme IB, Diamine Golden Sands

Salz Peter Pan 18k gold filled filligree fine flex, Waterman Serenity Blue

Pilot Silvern Dragon IB, Iroshizuku Kiri-Same

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery
