Both the Pelikan M100 (black) and M150 (green/black cap). The M100 has a Medium and is inked with Edelstein Topaz, the M150 (F) with Pelikan 4001 Violet.

I used quite a few pens today, mostly to clean them 😄

But I did get to make some cake. Figure 1 depicts it.

Figure 1. I claim it's cake. I'm not claiming I'm a good cook.

Figure 2. They worked hard today.

Figure 2 presents the pens (and the one waterbrush). Starting from the top:

  1. Sheaffer's Balance Sovereign (unless someone knowledgeable claims it's a Statesman) with 14k two-tone nib, F-tipped, inked with Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Brown. This is what I used for most of the sketch.
  2. Sailor 1911L Special Nib, with 21k Naginata Togi Medium, inked with Akkerman's Business in the Front, Party in the Back. This gives nice shading especially in combination with the waterbrush.
  3. Sailor 1970s long-short pocket pen, 21k nib, zoom/naginata togi tip, inked with Noodler's Harald's Hearse. This allows for the leaves of the cherry-like fruits (I just had to search: they're Peruvian gooseberry, Physalis peruviana).
  4. Sailor 1970s long-short pocket pen, 21k nib, zoom/naginata togi tip, inked with Diamine Pumpkin. This starts brilliant, then turns into a delicate yet bright enough pink under the waterbrush.

Hope it makes you smile. Comments are most welcome.

Enjoy.

Very nice, OldTravelingShoe!  If the cake were real, and not just a drawing, I'm sure it would be very yummy!

Enjoy.

This is such fun! You've clearly got more out of Business in the Front, Party in the Back than I have - I'm distinctly underwhelmed by it so far.

Of course what I really want to know is what's in the cake...

@mizgeorge, @inkstainedruth, all, many thanks for the kind words. I see there is demand for a _slice_ of this cake. Who knows, I may get to cook (draw) it! Or, in the words of Olga Tokarczuk,

Quote

Description is akin to overuse—it destroys; the colors wear off, the corners lose their definition, and in the end what’s been described begins to fade, to disappear.

Today was another day of using pens... to clean them. I happen to enjoy also this part, anything with pens brings joy and also this time I got to clean a couple for my better half.

large.20221127_145827.jpg.bbdb8a97702a9a1395d9671075aa4761.jpg

Figure 1. All the pens are belong to us. (Computer gaming reference.)

The pens I got to clean today are (left to right):

  1. A Jinhao X159 in black. This was an experiment; liked the pen but got annoyed with the typical troubles (e.g., nib setting, bit fo rattling for the converter, dries up). Cleaning this pen also made me aware the nib unit is not well sealed into the barrel; lots of water and foam come out not through the nib and feed, but on the side.
  2. A Platinum Plaisir, in Teal Green. Good pen, I like the nib which feels pencil-like.
  3. A Parker 45 olive, M nib. My default pen for drawing grass and, more generally, light greens.
  4. An Opus 88 clear demo, with a 1.5 stub nib. Great for tracing objects, good for italic calligraphy.
  5. An Esterbrook J mackrel green, with a 9968 (broad) nib. Good pen, springy sac.
  6. A Conway Stewart 58 in green hatch. I like very much this pen, both ergonomics and nib. I also like its looks. Glad to have it clean for the next ink.
  7. (above) A Conway Stewart 286, cleaned then reinked with Herbin Café des Îles. I'm still testing this pen, and given its age there are many things that can go wrong, but for now I can say I love it.
  8. (not shown) A PenBBS Amber is a Cat, cleaned, flushed, reinked with Diamine Scarlet as requested by its owner.
  9. (not shown) A Platinum Hydrangea, acquired from @Chi, which my better half loves and uses frequently. Cleaned, flushed, reinked with Noodler's Standard Purple.
  10. (not shown) A Chinese "Lamy Bear" pen, with EF black-coated nib. Cleaned, then directly reinked with a Lamy green cartridge.
  11. (not a pen) A Montblanc mechanical pencil, which I'm trying to fix.

Enjoy your weekend.

Today it's been the new toy, which came in the mail Friday-- a Sheaffer Star Wars Pop "BB-8" pen, M nib, with one of the inks that came in the mail yesterday: Robert Oster NYC Pen Show 2022. Supposedly a "sky blue" but it's more turquoise to my eye -- but does have a lot of shading.

A lot of pens to envy in this thread....good so.

Pre-war push button Osmia 222, maxi-semi-flex #2 F nib, with my favorite ink.

Francis just fixed it and gave it a touch of polish. This is what it looked like before.
