What pen(s) are you using today?

The underrated F-C Hexo, inked with LAMY Obsidian.  I will probably use this until at least Monday, given the dire nature of most things in the UK at present. 😬

 

The Hexo is a lovely writer (EF nib) and a great example of the marriage of form and function, like a simpler version of the LAMY Studio.  It does like to be flushed out every few weeks when using this ink, though.

Today I am using my new Pilot Custom 742 with a SU (stub) nib.  I enjoy different types of Pilot nibs, have a WA (waverly) on my Custom Heritage 912 and find it to be an exceptional writer.

 

Anyway, I had a Sailor 1911L with a broad nib that was simply too wide for me so I had it ground down to a .5mm cursive italic which was perfect for me.  This led to an increased interest in italic/stub nibs, so I purchased the 742 recently.

 

The 742 has about the same vertical line width as the 1911L but is considerably wetter, a bonus for a Pilot nib which sometimes run on the dry side.  It is a smooth writer, but different than the Sailor.  I now have a custom grind italic  and a factory stub to enjoy.  Maybe I will purchase the Montblanc 149 Fritz Schimpf Italic next (just kidding)....

Today's less-often-used pen, an Eversharp Slim Ventura with fine nib. Ink is TWSBI black.

TWSBI Swipe in Prussian blue broad using Pilot Iroshizuku Shin-Kai (deep Ocean) Blue ink. I am trying to use it more so that I can clean it out and refill it with my Diamine Shimmer Ink Dragons blood which is red with gold Specks and will be brilliant when we get closer to the festive season, and I am sending cards to my family friends and international pen pals from this forum

What nib?  I like using  shimmer in my Gos, but they do sometimes clog up.  I imagine the Swipe is quite similar.

I am still using the swipe as much as possible but rotating it with in no particular order My Lamy Safari, Lamy Al-star, and Platinum Plaisir PGB-3000.

Pilot Custom Urushi (Vermilion)  inked with Akkerman #7. Ink shades nicely even on Rhodia with FM nib. My new favorite pen, besides  the Sailor ProGear.

 

I really neglected Pilot as a brand. Preferring Pelikan and Sailor. But in terms of value, I find that Pilot punches above it's weight. Even with the lower priced offerings. Pilot is now my favorite pen brand.

TWSBI Eco lilac

Cheap Chinese no-name pen that looks like a piece of live bamboo; it's grown on me(no pun intended, I didn't like the pen at first and said so in a review)

 

There was supposed to be a Go in there, but the shimmer has clogged the nib and I am not in pen maintenance mode at the moment.

I am also using a beautiful M205 but mine is 'petrol blue'. (not the colour of petrol here in NZ btw).

Filled with Rohrer & Klingner, 'Salix' which is good match from my ink box.

 

 

I also love my 'blue goose'..or is it a heavily disguised Pelikan?

 

 

I rarely go a day without using my Kaweco Brass.

I have R&K 'Scabiosa' in that one at the moment.

I don't know. It's the only sailor I have. It's a limited edition purple cosmos. The names confuse me. It's a nice writer,but the ink capacity is small with the convertor.

 

I have a sailor nib on my Cross Peerless which has a much better capacity.

 

The (gold) nibs are wonderful.
