I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Every sentence in your story reads like a big plus to me 😄

Great pen? Check. Personal project that gets you excited? Check. Reasons to return to the project? Check. Surprising result? Check. Etc. Even the writing looks like fun!

Very good stuff! Thank you.

Haha… I dislike this pen because of my experience (and expense) dealing with Parker's nib exchange programme which disappointed me not just once, but twice, over the course of some months; and I failed to do a good job on the nib, so now there is only the barest amount of tipping material left, not that I care all too much if I'd ruined the pen. All I wanted was for Parker to deliver a Fine Italic nib to me that writes kinda like what the nib now does when reverse-writing, without my hands-on intervention and taking undue risks. I even showed them examples of the writing output I wanted, and since Newell Brands in Australia told me the pen had to be sent to France to be fitted with a nib that is only produced by the company's nib technicians on demand through the nib exchange programme, I didn't think it was too high an expectation or too much of an ask.

I already have two Fine/narrow Italic nibs on European pens that Dan Smith ground for me, and I prefer to use those for actual writing. All in all, this Parker Duofold Centennial was bought at a good discount from Amazon, and I only wanted to see what Parker can do, either in providing me with an Extra Extra Fine (or needlepoint) nib or fit-for-purpose Fine Italic nib. Not only did Parker fail at both, but it also gave me a particularly (and memorable) poor customer service experience.

As far as I'm concerned, the Fine Italic nib it supplied me with (and even as it is now, since I failed to improve its writing performance in normal orientation) writes like Platinum's Music nib; and I now have an actual one of those (which I rarely use), so I can't think of any good use for this pen at all.

I might go back to putting ESS Registrars Ink in it next. I only put iron-gall, pigment, or Noodler's inks in it; in other words, those that potentially spell trouble for other pens.

Replaced the Molteni Curucova with this Montegrappa Symphony in turquoise celluloid w/18k fine nib and Noodler's Navajo Turquoise ink. Arguably the best looking celluloid ever!

That certainly is a good looking pen!  Does the cap screw onto the back of the barrel for posting?  Or is that just decorative?

Also, thanks for reminding me about Navajo Turquoise -- I haven't used that ink in a while.... :headsmack:

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Yes, the cap does screw on for posting, although I rarely post caps unless the pen is particularly short and light weight.

There have been other pens in use through the day, but most recently, it has been a Conway Stewart Churchill.
