Only marking are self filling and part of a word maybe no under the filigree on the hard rubber cap, a ebonite screw in the barrel end, maybe for venting?  Nib is not original.  Any help much appreciated. Thanks Theresa

How do you know the nib is not original?

What's it say?

Where (what country) did you find that pen?

Just noticed you have had a Farley ED before.

Sorry read your flag wrong, but you could end up with a French pen as easy as any others.

Between 1925 and 40 there were over 80 French fountain pen manufacturers. I just took a quick look in Andreaus Lambrou's Fountain book, but it showed no overlaid pens; which would have or could have been done by the local jeweler.

One French company made pens from 1863.

With German pens I would think such overlays would have been put on in Pfortsheim, the jewelry capitol of Germany.

A very fine looking pen.

I would never have the nerve to take my two Safety Pens apart. I sent them off for a new cork immediately. There were repairs done by Francis. Francis did a great job on polishing the old MB.

My Fendomatic Safety Pen  is a full overlay 18 RK (rolled gold) done in Milan.

I bought the pen with 3 others on ebay, I put that nib on it to see how it wrote, the screw on end cap looks European to me, sort of like a German twist filler, I fooled around with it some more and discovered the ebonite slotted screw does control the ink flow. Does anyone know of a pen company that used type of venting?  Thanks for the info.

If no one comes up with an answer, try asking Francis.
