those Osmiroid pens are sucky

The original made in UK pens were third tier, but were priced right.

The nibs were for those who wanted to do calligraphy back in the day before nib grinders. .

I had/have a lever Osmiroid pen, but luckily had a couple Esterbrooks which took the nibs. Esterbrook is a more sturdy and better balanced pen.

I had read those made in China after the company was sold were 4th tier if that high. I had won a six nib UK made Osmiroid set also, so have nibs of different sizes to use.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

The cheapest lessons are from those who learned expensive lessons. Ignorance is best for learning expensive lessons.

I got a pink Jinhao Shark today, free with a Black Friday ink order. Never have I enjoyed writing so much with a free pen before!

Love my Sharks, there are some recently-released subdued colors I don't have and do not pine for. Also a clear demonstrator that I want but it only comes as part of a 12-pack of fude nibs. I don't need a dozen of those so...

Pro Gear, or Pro Gear Slim? Nibs in the two models do not share the same geometry or gold alloy composition.

You are correct, as usual. Plus I misidentified the inked pen. I really should learn to sit on my hands when I want to play with the big kids, as it rarely ends well.

A Kaweco Sport Skyline in Pebble Gray, a very light gray, with F nib. It came with a clip too, the version that costs less.

I saw that vermillion 845 in person for the first time at the Colorado Pen Show this year, very tempting!
Who did the nib work for you on that one?

The nib was ground by "Bruce S.," the in-house nib technician at Fontoplumo dot com.

He's done 3 or 4 other nibs for me. All have been excellent.

I got a Gioia with CI grind from Bruce at Fontoplumo a while ago after seeing your posts. It is excellent! I also had an architect done recently, again excellent.

Thanks so much for the info, a merchant I hadn’t heard of before!

Well....this is more a cautionary tale.

I received a beautiful Ranga pen in the mail but it was clearly not the same colour I had chose -sample #9

While I accept that there can be small differences in batch to batch this was just too large a difference - it appears to be #10 more than #9.

I have been in contact with Ranga but the main response is that no the pen I received is #9 colour and they do not take returns etc.

I am very saddened as I was greatly looking forward to this pen as a treat to myself for both my 20yr work anniversary and my upcoming 50th

Again very saddened that I will not get to use a Ranga pen and I am now too afraid to make other colour choices - if anyone is interested in this pen let me know

It has not been inked and comes with a Jowo #6 Flex nib (would have been my first real flex nib)

I simply cannot bring myself to use it - while Ranga does not take returns or offer refunds I may in the end send this back anyway

@cat74 so sorry for your valid disappointment. The pen you received looks nothing like the color you ordered. I hope you find another way to mark your work anniversary and 50th birthday. It’s an important birthday to mark.

OK, so it's a ballpoint, but it is a Pilot Lucina and I had to get *something* to get a Pilot 2023 bear. 💛

Still waiting for the Lucina fountain pen to arrive from Japan... I just couldn't wait to share the bear. :)

Yellow? Orange? In between?

I have a pumpkin-colored one that must have came along with another pen I purchased. But it stays in a cup next to my computer as a backup when I quickly need to write something down and my fountain pen won't start. I just now noticed that it has a satisfying 'click'...
