When I had this problem, the pen shop told me to semi-forcefully whack the open end of the barrel down on a soft surface like a notebook. It worked well.

It came out on the first whack. You are my hero today.

Kaweco cartridges are ok. *still have some( I bought some to test before buying a bottle but never ended up buying any bottles, having other inks that were close enough.  And using mostly piston fillers.

I did finally get a Kaweco 1960-70 piston Sport with a semi-flex nib.

It is out on my desk right now.

@Bo Bo Olson  I have to admit the cartridge dispenser was a get it for fun purchase. I doubt I’d ever have bought Kaweco Ruby Red. Now that I’ve tried it, who knows maybe one day I’ll want a bottle now that I’ve used the ink. Some Ruby inks have pink in them. I already have inks like those.

What I’d love to know is if Kaweco made the Caran d’Ache Colors of the Earth series of inks.

I've been suspecting that too, or a third party ink subcontractor making inks for both companies. Kaweco inks are made in Austria, where (Trodat?) some company is making ink for many other companies.

CdA inks don't mention country of origin (at least mine doesn't), and their erasers are likely made in Spain by Facit, so I think it's possible their inks aren't made in Switzerland either. They advertise the made in Switzerland a lot but are very careful on some products to skip the "made in".

Anyway I compared Kaweco Summer purple to CdA Ultraviolet and the CdA is darker. Now my Kaweco bottle appears a bit fishy so maybe there's that, or simply batch variations, or simply just slightly different requirements from respective companies to the ink subcontractor?

(or same formulator person, and two slightly different ink recipes)

CdA inks

I only have the old ones, the new ones are way, way out of my price range.

I remember reading a review of Kaweco Summer Purple. Cyber6 posted that it would make all the fans of CdA Storm ink fans happy.

I have a bottle of Kaweco Summer Purple from before Kaweco changed the bottle and box. I got a pen today that I need to get a good photo of for this thread.

Edit: the pen I received is a Pilot Elite in burgundy and gold with M nib. Pilot calls it deep red. The pen came from a Japanese store on Amazon. So it has Elite on it. In the US, it’s sold as the E95s, due to a copyright issue with some pen already named Elite. The E95s only has an E on the cap.

Today in the mail was a package from Atlas Stationers. I’ve been a fan of their store for many years. They sent a 15% off code for my birthday. I put pens in the cart, then deleted a pen in favor of another, added a clip.  Finally settled on three Kaweco Sport pens and one gold tone clip. The included notecard had Penchant for Pens written on it. The three Kaweco pens are the Toyama Teal, Sage, and Mellow Blue. The clip went on the collaboration with Galen Leather Sapphire transparent pen that I got for my birthday.

Bought live yesterday start of a closing out sale of a major department sore in my local., in my wife liked the color. I'd not palnned on buy it...story in other places, of being a bit on sale.

Lamy special edition Studio Aquamarine.

Will go down looking for a half price Impporium, come end of the month. I really like the nib, but the price of €360 is over my limit.image.thumb.jpeg.d6dda21a116d0c297fddd8d968c0822f.jpeg

I don't think the nib fits other of the Lamy pens.

I do have a 1990 no dot on the spring clip Persona. someone said the nibs couldn't just screw in.

When one prices a 146/149 or an 800/1000 it is in the range and a very solid pen.

I do have my very Art Decco  Persona, a the first design of the man who designed both pens @ 1990. It had a nail's nail 18k 0B with absolutely no line variation. Pendelton Brown made it a real nice CI.

Not my scribble, his writing.

'91 and later they added a tiny dot to the clip to keep the pen from rolling off the desk. Mine lacks the dot.

If I luck out I'd prefer the titanium gray with platinum trim. No black or black and gold... My Person is close enough for that. I'm real picky for something that is not yet deep enough sale priced to make my day.

I had seen the Person in the window of a village optometrist, who also sells small antiques on commission.  I looked it up, and found a nice picture, and at €100 back then 50 over my limit.... I'm was and still am a bottom feeder given the choice. My normal limit for classic old top of the line used pens is €150.

I showed the picture to my wife and forgot about it. The very next day, behind my back, mind you, she went down and bargained it somewhat lower and surprised me with it.EIj4i9e.jpgFWL4Clr.jpgMAXrkr7.jpg

I meant that the Imporium is using the Lamy Z56 or Z57 nibs, that can fit other Lamy pens like your Studio.

The Persona is another case, with a very nice nib. Well the Z56/57 are nice too, just more..."mainstream".
