This pen arrived today, with a little bit of delay due to a storm we had in the Netherlands yesterday.

My 3rd Parker VS arrived today..rust colour!

My grey is medium and I quite enjoy that...the maroon? Is fine but I think I need to work the nib a bit. This new one is extra fine but works well..also the first VS I didn't need to replace the sac and bar on!20230708_015519.thumb.jpg.5334f59835f44c5bb0419bced8f5cbd9.jpg

A Lamy Scala. I was only looking for another notebook and following a terrible habit I saw the Lamy stand and they have the Scala in Violet at a very good price.

A friend gave me a Lamy Al-Star in Lilac with a fine nib. Along with a bottle of Lamy Topaz crystal ink.

Excellent combination and the Lamy writes very smoothly. Now my favourite pen.

A new Leonardo Model, the "Audace," arrived this evening. It is as long as a MZ Grande but girthier and has no step-down from barrel to sections. The 14Kt 1.1mm stub nib is crisp and smooth - a great writer.

Didn't Waterman have a model called Audace? Did they already run out of names?

@dms525 That’s a very different material from Leonardo. It’s an attractive blue.

Yes, although it is the second pen in this type of resin. The first is a white and pearlescent dark blue and is a MZ Grande size. This one is cream and blue-gray and in a new shape for Leonardo.

The first was also a limited edition for a different Italian pen shop. I snagged one of those also.

@dms525 Nice, never seen that color combination, a limited edition?

Yes. Mine is #12 of 23. See my reply to Misfit.

Yes. Waterman's Audace was a relatively low-end fountain pen and ballpoint. "Audace" means "Bold," and is no more a special word than "Special."

One I bought yesterday, and two today. No matter what, I always get sucked in by Parkers. The green celluloid is so beautiful in person, and shiny metal pens always hit the spot. large.IMG_0181.jpeg.a5db64aa41896e23ee0412bb32a51dc6.jpeg

I saw a blue Waterman Edson, the Jewel of the collection, the seller of the Ciselé called it-  but it didn’t hold a candle to your Bucheron. I’m rather done for a little while (I say this now, but the minute my husband asks me if I want to go to the store, I’m not going to turn it down), between my repairs, regrinds, and new stuff- satis est nunc.

I didn't realise it had a wood barrel as well. When I searched to look for Amber Duragraphs they were all just transparent all over. Very handsome!

I like Diamine Safari too.

I’m disappointed as the nib on this pen is the first Conklin nib I have had issues with. I tried Diamine Safari. Then I rinsed the nib. Still not writing well. I dumped the ink, cleaned the pen. Filled it with De Atramentis Red Brown, which I hoped is a wet ink.  Still not writing like it should.  The pen I got just before it, another Conklin, writes really well, with nice line variation.

Next I added a drop of Dawn to a large glass of water. Soaked it for several hours. Then rinsed it several times. Let it dry overnight. Today I put the pen back together.  I’m still not happy with it. I did use a brass shim before I changed inks.

Hi Misfit, Could you describe the issues?  Sounds like some kind of flow problem since you were trying a wet ink.

@USG Thank you for posting. I think that sounds right, a flow problem. I’m rinsing the nibs from the Amber and the Voyager. Then I’ll swap converters to see how each writes.  I know what the ink in the Amber pen should look like.

Im not sure how to fix a flow problem.

The nib from the Amber pen seems to write crisper too.

Oh, that's disappointing.  I'm  not an expert, but wonder if the nib is sitting flat against the feed. I've had pens where it was lifted a bit and the flow wasn't good.

A green Kaweco Lilliput with a fine nib has arrived to join my collection. Oh my, that's one tiny pen. So cute.

Will work for pens...
