After days of waiting, finally new pen arrived. 🎉
It's a Graf Von Faber Castell Guilloche Black Edition with EF nib.

Actually Guilloche series were off radar for me due to price level but I don't know why there was an "awkward" price of $140 for this one at Amazon (retail is over $350, maybe because it's EF? ) , I was skeptical despite seller is Amazon Germany but long story short it arrived today.

Overall it's an amazing pen especially at this price but tbh I'm slightly disappointed at finish of resin barrel, I'd prefer it to be matte ( maybe it's due to coating ) and somehow resin of Ambition Opart feels more luxury to me. Other than that , rest is exceptional imo.

As I liked this nib so much, I had to buy a pen for it 🙈.

While the Delike nib unit seemed to fit into the S3 at first, the pen blobbed that way and the converter didn't sit securely (someone has green hands now, as she might have been a bit stupid 😆). However, both nibs and feeds came out very easily and so it now has the Moonman unit and just the Delike nib.

(The original Moonman nib worked well too, though I'm not 100% sure it really is an EF as ordered and not an F. It's wider than my Snorkel's EF and slightly slimmer than my Triumph's F.)

Everybody has such nice colorful pens....👍🙂

I never did get a red Estie....I did have 5 of the 8 different gray ones....and 3 of the 5 green ones. 4-6 of the blues.

Mail cost back then in the day of the $15 Estie the USPS cost were so high, it would have cost $10 for it to be mailed across the pond to Germany.

A gray Estei from '48-52...told by the ink lever was one of the pens that started my addiction....by the time the sac finally died, and it did take it's time about ti, it was 60 years old. .........in 'real life' I just missed the pretty Esties, having an ugly monotone 'silver' capped one in Jr. High in the start of '60's. Couldn't really tell the difference between it and a Wearever.

So I eventually sold all but a '40's Blue Lady's ..in the middle...and a Copper.

I did learn, those capped ones didn't have a nib.:headsmack: An English lot.

I really regret getting rid of the pre-and just after the War second class Wearevers. But I was into piston pens and didn't want the expense of re-sacing.....remember what I said about the high cost of US mail?

Did keep the '70's turquoise Wearever right hand edge, in that is my wife's favorite color, and that camouflage MP in the left 1/3rd  is actually bot an FP and MP.

So that was four pens of this lot I kept. rfUcYs9.jpg

There had been one of the guys who started FPN, got kicked off..to Dennis the Guest, for not returning pens....

He had the world greatest collection of Wearevers:crybaby: and a very grand blog on them. He was so sick, hanging on an Ox bottle and sold them for a nickle on the dollar....and his blog soon died too. Frank tried to keep it alive, but got no support.

That is something that wouldn't happen over here in Germany, I don't have to sell my pen collection, car or house because of medical costs...for 13-15% (six in a hospital room** vs 2-3) in a room) of my salary/matched by the employer I am fully covered....same when I retired.

**Then, don't know about now.  I had decided to pay 2% more for a nicer room.

Yes, it costs €10 a day for staying in a hospital, cheap 13% or not.

If you are a fool and go private, you get to go to the start of the line.Never have to wait in th waiting room.  Get the more expensive hospital doctor....but you got to keep the money....because you are not allowed to change back to public and the older you get the $$$$ more expensive private becomes.....which is only right.

When young private is cheaper....but age is a 80 year sprint. There you might have to sell stuff to stay insured....I feel no pity.  If one plays Capitalist, then one must win.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

I couldn't agree more but I get an impression that people aren't into these type of fountain pens, they are more into pens I inherently despise :)

It's rather limiting to find fountain pens with my limitations ( no grandfather pen, no sport pen, no aluminum pen, preferably not shiny ) , so it's " bleh what's so special with this? " for me for some pens people really adore.

I chase the nib.....for years it was semi-flex, now, it has to be at least regular flex/Pilot 'soft'. I don't care for nails which most pens are......I can get by with semi-nails, if they are attached to a greatly balanced pen like the standard sized P-75.

Standard or medium-long/large are pens that were designed to post for great balance.

The only large pens for me that have good balance is the P-45 and the thin Snorkel has great balance.....now that was a shock to put it next to my Safari and find out the Snorkel was large pen.

I find the large '70-now 146...almost good, much nimbler than an 800. the medium large '48-60 146 has a great semi-flex or maxi-semi-flex that I have nib and great balance.

I grew up in standard/medium-long/large days...and actually thought of a P-51 as a large pen.

When Shaffer's Pen for Men came in....there was lots of advertising on TV and top flight mags....but I never saw one in real life. It was considered clunky back then.

Now we have a couple generations that grew up with large to overized pen...149/1000 and refuse for religious grounds to post a standard sized pen....and have the nerve to complain it's too short.

Many grew up with thinking fat clunky pens were normal. I ended up with some, but were not something I chased or chase even now. So I am condemned to medium-short, standard, and medium-long/large.:notworthy1::happyberet::wub:

Congratulations on finding the family pens in your garage. And good on you for fixing the nib. I have a red SJ too.

I got an Endless Creator VP style (retractable) pen that I had on order for months.

Pretty neat.  I was surprised to learn that it was made in India.

The Kaweco Galen Leathers pen arrived today. I decided to open it to be sure of the nib. Now that I’ve seen it, I think I’ll save that one for my birthday, and get the Ultimate Gray one out of the box to have now. It was going to be a gift (for me) but I think the sapphire pen (Galen) should be for my birthday since that is my birthstone.

A Pilot Prera Iro-Ai in green arrived today, along with the Dingbats reporter style notebook. The Prera has a CM nib, and comes with a converter. I have a couple inks in mind for the pen, once I locate them.  The pen and notebook are almost made for each other.

A Sailor Lecoule Pale Brown arrived this morning from Japan. It's a  particularly speedy delivery - it overtook two other packages from the same vendor ordered days earlier.

The colour is a slightly grey-brown, rather than pale, to my eye and will be perfect with Cacao du Bresil or R&K Sepia or the older version of Noodler's #41 Brown. It is very much to my taste!

Will work for pens...

It's 10:3- AM...no package deliveryman.

It's 12:08 sigh cubed.

17:02, The Pelikan has Landed.

It is a maxi-semi-flex...EF.

Tested it vs my other tortoises, a '54 transition B semi-flex and a 500 OBBB maxi.

I didn't realize the 400nn was an EF....

It is about the same as my other two early '50's Tortoises, a good shade lighter than my '91-97 400 regular flex tortoise.

uffnBIW.jpg

It never rains but it pours, my BM called up, my pastel blue Pelikan 200 Landed today also................. so that will be picked up tomorrow.

Picture from Pelikan Perch. It is my first white cap and piston cap pen.....(I once had a couple white nurse Esties but that was a long time ago)

6v0utmE.jpg And oddly for me, in EF in I have lots of editing to do.....and that 400nn came in in EF too...so that's 4 EF's I have. A  '59 true 3 ring Geha 790 semi-flex oWb4qI2.jpgand the marbled brown 200...picture from  Fritz ..when I buy, I get the picture as boot.DSPqv6F.jpg........of course if I look I might stumble over other EF's . I never chased EF's.

I gave away a 1745 Reform to give the guy upstairs a full set...EF regular flex, F Maxi, M regular flex and OB semi-flex....sold at old time fair price...if one drinks the guys whiskey....can't charge market prices.

Montblanc Johannes Brahms Donation edition, in a hugely wasteful presentation box (13.5x9x2; Montblanc's charitable intentions might have been more believable without that particular monstrosity), black with rhodium trim and nib, and a tuning fork motif for the clip (also comes with a ridiculous actual tuning fork in the moronic box). Fine nib, which I haven't written with yet. Piston filler which works with water. Seller claims only used for testing, which looks accurate. Acquired for what seems to be noticeably less than the going price elsewhere, from a seller with 100% positive feedback. (edited to add: the size is generally in the range of a 146 LeGrand.)

The nib has an incised design but I can't figure out what it represents. It looks like some sort of bird, but I don't know what that has to do with Brahms. A turkey? That seems unkind.

The design of this pen seems to go well with my impression of Brahms music (not necessarily in a good way) -- a little stodgy and pompous. I don't think I'm going to love it like I do my Virginia Woolf. But I'll have a better idea once I have written with it.

Now to find a place for that box.

@Bo Bo Olson -- That pastel blue M200 looks pretty.  I might be sorely tempted to get one....  (My husband will likely just roll his eyes, and my wallet will have conniption fits, of course.... ).

Actually, that bit was rhetorical. And I do feel obliged to keep it in the event of re-sale -- for these kinds of pens, having the original box in pretty good condition can add considerably to the sale price. I would have been happy to save some of those dollars and bought it without the box, but that option is rarely available for these kinds of "special edition" pens.

I forgot to mention, the seller also sent me a very luxe Montblanc shopping bag, complete with over 2 yards of black Montblanc ribbon, which was probably used to tie the box closed at the store, I mean boutique. Now that's dedication to the shopping experience.

I got this pen today. Latest impulsive buy. Showing my (newly acquired) green pen. I hope cross posting is not severely punished.

Leonardo 2023 Dutch Pen Show LE. Reminds me of a Summer frozen dessert. Vanilla-Mint Gelato? Hmmm... The pen looks better than that sounds!

@dms525 makes me want to lick your pen. To my shame or not, I did lick a Snoopy Christmas ornament that was a gingerbread house with Snoopy looking like he was covered in crystal sugar. It was not sweet to taste. 😕

Gorgeous pen, by the way.
