Yes, that was me yesterday, suddenly learning everything I could about split feeds! Thank goodness the OP in the $9.99 Montblanc thread just happened to mention in a reply to me that he wanted to try to keep the split feed, which I had never heard of before. Otherwise, I probably would have thought this pen's feed was broken (which I did for a second anyway!) and chalked it up to parts. And you can probably imagine my surprise when a vintage pen I bought online a few days ago without having seen the feed, only a photo of the nib, arrived sporting this crazy feed that I just happened to see a random mention of the day before!! :o

I didn't manage to find much information about them, however, so I'm still looking as I slowly try to get the piston cleaned out. A friend did find a side-view photo for me, so that did at least help put my mind at ease that it wasn't a broken feed. 😅

Re: split feeds: Very interesting!

I wonder if the fins on a split feed serve their usual purpose? It seems like ink might never make it to them but that's just a guess and I'm not sure.

@DvdRiet What kind of pen is that?

Yeah, I was wondering that myself. I really have no idea how it is supposed to work! :) And right now, I am just trying to get the piston cleaned out and praying that after that, it will actually suck up some ink so that I can test it out. I'm dying to try it out, so I hope I don't have to send it off to get the piston repaired first.

The pen is a Crown, which I believe is an old Dutch pen company, and the barrel says 'Crown-Transparant' so I assume that's the name of the model. It's an old marbled celluloid piston-filler that I bought because I liked the colors. (I mean, why else??)

TL;DR: A vintage Waterman 513 with blue-swirled body, with 14K 2A nib, broad but with good line variation and a bit stubby, inked with Noodler's Ink Ottoman Azure.

I quite like it, and you can check in the figures if you like it yourself.

This is post-dated.  On 6-21-22, my order of six Jinhao 51A, 5 XF (solid black, solid burgundy, two solid blue, one some dark dull brown wood) and one F, in rose wood, arrived.  My wife claimed one of the blues for herself, which was filled with Pilot Blue-Black.

And I completely forgot to post the red transparent Sheaffer school pen that arrived on May 12.  I have yet to ink that one.

A NOS box of twelve "Oriental Prince" pens with a design clearly inspired by the Parker 45. Six different colors - curiously, three of the colors are shades of green. I'm guessing circa 1960s since the style of the included printed material screams that era. I am not yet sure if these are Thai-made pens or if they are produced by a Chinese manufacturer for the Thai market - I hope the former, especially since it would be the first Thai fountain pen brand that I know of, but I suspect the latter.

More extensive post forthcoming in the Asia sub-forum.

Oh man, those look so fun!! And that’s quite a haul. (And fingers crossed for you that it turns out to be a Thai brand.)

You are the owner of pens that were available in Thailand. How is the pen world in your country or in Chiangmai.

The packaging and documents are very different from those made in China.

Packing Chinese pens is simpler and more compact(Excluding gold nibs).

The nib unit is different from the Hero.

It's possible that it was packed in Thailand after OEM production ...

How about the inside of the barrel (filler)?

Is the pen tip gold? Or gold plated? Which is it?

 How big is the pen?

Is the nib unit the same as the Parker 45?etc.

There are many specialists in the Asian sub-forums.

I look forward to a detailed post.

Big question which I probably cannot answer well since I live way out in the countryside, not very close to any cities. I'm sure its nothing like, say, the US. Most the enthusiasts live in the Bangkok metropolitan area (but so does a large percentage of Thailand's overall population), as far as I can tell, and there's one, maybe two, shops there that specialize in fountain pens.

This is what I suspect. The guarantee booklet is printed in English, Thai, and Chinese. The Thai company, which transliterates to "Maneeratana", is cited as "sole agent". The main evidence for them being of Thai production is that another model of Oriental Prince, which I don't have, has "Maneeratana" stamped on the filler.

This pen arrived today. It’s a Traveler’s Company brass pen in the limited edition Factory Green finish. It’s a pocket pen. I put in the cartridge it came with. It only takes cartridges, but I’ve read it can accommodate a Kaweco mini converter. large.F93CF8FE-DEAF-4493-BB79-D4BA71807368.png.03f0d96073bd1bf52a7a9acc0d71ee26.png

I wondered if pocket pens were produced in countries other than Japan, and I saw the print "MADE IN JAPAN".

I didn't know about the Travelers Company.

It seems that it is made in partnership with a small workshop that has been manufacturing pens for over 100 years.

What is your impression of the brass pen?

It seems that you can enjoy the change over time.

I found a homepage written in both Japanese and English.

There is also a link to the inquiry page at the bottom. I don't know if it will answer, but why not ask the converter question?

There is also an online shop page, but please note that it does not seem to sell or deliver outside Japan.

It would be interesting to know who manufactures the pens.

Incidentally, the flagship product of Traveler's Company - their leather notebooks - are made in Chiang Mai, Thailand, the city I used to live in and now live about 3 hours away from. Unfortunately the notebooks use a proprietary paper size and, while I understand the business reasons for doing that, it certainly eliminates me as a customer.

Wow.

Is the Wancher artwork urushi too? Is the feed finish done by Pilot?

How is the ergonomics of gripping and writing with the pen with that super long nib?

How many pocket pens fit inside it? 🙃

Yes, I believe so and the feed finish is done by Wancher, I think. I didn't find exact pen on their website but saw other pen feed finished in similar fashion.

I don't know yet! But plan to spend more time with it during the weekend to find out. I only had enough time to unbox and organize last evening.

visual estimation, probably 4? LOL
