I’m very glad you’re back to being your usual self and overall very happy. :D

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

S. T. Dupont Classique, Lacque de Chine (Chinese urushi). I am not much of a luxury pen person (or a luxury *anything* person) but I love these minimal, elegant designs.

Thanks, @PithyProlix, noted! TO-DO +1 😄

Well, I meant as a potential alternative (the Classic is consistently a good writer relative to the 180), but what the heck, go for it!

I got two today. One is the Monteverde Mountains of the World Everest, plus a Lamy+Line brown pen and bear set. What is unknown is if the Lamy+Line set is legitimate or counterfeit. I think @A Smug Dill said it was counterfeit. It’s a very good one fake.  I hold out hope it isn’t. But it was $15.

Tomorrow I’ll try to swap nibs with what I know is real Lamy nib to see if it fits.

That's my best guess. As long as it isn't something I'm looking to sell to someone else, and therefore obliged to correctly represent what the item is (or isn't), I don't think it matters anyway as long as it functions as a competent writing instrument. I still haven't inked up either of the ones I bought; one of them is given to my wife to use (but she hasn't asked me to fill it with ink yet), and the other is currently put away in the stash of potential giveaways to our friends' or cousins' kids.

What is it about the mountains of the world that is attracting interest? I am curious, what am I missing out on?

I like the look of the Mountains of the World Denali, but some of the others I'm less keen about.  I've also read mixed reviews of Monteverde pens in general, and of their nibs in particular.  But a friend of mine just gave me a a Monteverde Strata with a B nib, and I've got a shout out to a US retailer that carries them (she gets random boxed sets of stuff from Truphae, apparently) to see if they can tell me what the (capped) weight of the Strata is and then how it compares to a MotW Denali (since they seem to have those on sale at the moment).

I haven't been able to get a lot of info about the Strata model, but it does seem to be a heavier pen than my TWSBI 580-AL and 580-ALR, and -- at 28 grams capped -- that had been my benchmark of what is a good weight vs. too heavy for me to use).

Ohhhh, so nice! Is that a 12 or 14 on the left? Looks like maybe an OB nib, yes? And what's the other nib???

It is a 14 with a BB, but I really like it!

I went for years with only owning one, Kilimanjaro. Then Pen Chalet had a really great price on them for World Stationery Day. The two available were the Black Mountains and Vesuvio. I chose Vesuvio.

Then I went looking for Denali, and got it from Speerbob on eBay. Then started searching for K2 again, because it’s the one I’ve been wanting. It came out in 2015 I think.  I got lucky with a seller in India. I ordered Mount Fuji too because I figured I’d never find it otherwise. And of course I ordered Everest from Speerbob.

When the IMAX film about Everest came out, I saw it. Then I read several mountain climbing books.

I don’t love the design as to how it tapers to a silver end cap. But still, I can’t help but want them. This is Vesuvio  large.031C2C7B-26B8-4427-86FE-0BA6EB3441FC.jpeg.7f818578308129ca226ea6d3854d4670.jpeg

@inkstainedruth the MOTW weighs 29 grams. I don’t own a Strata. I am happy with my Monteverde pens. I own quite a few. I always get the 1.1mm stub nib when I can.

I tried to swap nibs. I got the nib off, and when I tried to put a Lamy 1.1mm nib on, it was loose. That suggests your suspicion is correct. I bought it knowing that, just held out hope the nibs would interchange. Oh well, it’s still cute.

They came!  The Monteverde Mountains of the World pen I’ve wanted. K2 on the left was the one I went looking for. Mount Fuji on the right is the bonus. I’m so pleased to finally have K2.
