I got this pen today

I don’t drink either. Somewhere, here or some other review or post, the person did drink cognac when either the pen arrived, or he/she wrote with it. I have a sample of KWZ Honey, numerous brown inks. Someday I might not look to match inks, and use some other color.

There's always complementary colors or ones that stylishly 'fit' without matching! :) I recently got a vintage Platinum pocket pen with red and green butterflies on the barrel and cap and a white section (there's a picture a few posts up) and, while Hisoku doesn't match any of the colors on the pen, it still looks 'right' for the pen. Regardless, personally, I'm OK if there's not a good match or fit between the ink and pen colors but better if there is ... especially when the color is as nice as the color of your Pelikan plus a ink color can be found that matches/fits and also looks good on the page.

I forgot. Is there a mark on the filler?

Many of these models use the same filling system as Parker 51's aerometric fillers.

The filler is inscribed in English or Chinese.

Of course, after 1980s, there was also a cartridge converter system.

No mark on the filler, no signs at all!

I think the quality is better than the hero lineup I was thinking of.

 1. The filler is new to me (this means my lack of experience).

 2. The section ring specifications are also more luxuriously finished.

 3. There is a beautiful ink window in the section.

 4. Isn't the chip grind different from the Chinese vintage?

 I think.

However, since the shape is similar, I have the impression that the relationship is deep (the source of the design? A higher-grade model?).

But I wonder ... why didn't the builder leave a name when he made such a good thing?

There is no doubt that you aren't there, but there's no stamp on the barrel ...

Why not start a new topic that is visible to many members, not just the readers of this thread, not here?

I also care about the nature of this pen with the same feeling as you.

To me, the pen looks as if it could be a clear demonstrator filled with dark honey. I started searching around for dark honey-colored inks that might be a good match and the closest I could find is Van Dieman's Leatherwood Honey Amber, but I think it would be much better with more brown and less yellow.

At any rate, GvFC Cognac looks to be an interesting color that would go well with that beautiful pen. Enjoy!

EDIT: Sorry, meant to add that, while I don't drink myself, having a glass of cognac while writing with that combination would seem very appropriate.

Also, while Seitz Kreuznach Cognac is too orange, I think, their Cinnamon Brown looks like it's also a good match, especially if you are wanting to keep German with German.

I think I’ll try to get a sample of the Van Dieman’s ink you mentioned. I was looking for the Seitz Kreuznach Cinnamon Brown.  Is it still being made? It looks like a nice color. I’m not convinced GvFC Cognac is a perfect match.

I just looked and I cannot find S-K Cinnamon Brown. Sorry for the unintentional tease ...

The Van Dieman's ink in @AmandaW's swatches looks really good to me.

I was thinking of Tobacco Sunburst too. I have Desert Burst, which you also might consider, but I really want to like it and it just doesn't work for me - looks awkward on the page, IMO. I get the same feeling with Taccia Golden Wheat but I know people generally like that one.

I have the exact same set!  I took the nibs from the Plumix pens to put on Pilot Preras.

Wouldn’t you know I have Cherry sunburst. That’s 3 of the 5 of those Guitar series. Inks mentioned.

I appreciate you cared enough to look around in the first place. Maybe Cinnamon Brown will return?  I think I’d like writing with a Cinnamon ink. I’d start wanting sweets or curry!

Oh, really my pleasure - I enjoy the virtual 'window shopping'.

Aha, then Callifolio Cannelle might be the ink for you!

Nice one! The best value in italic nibs, I think. But that section... 🤮 Hope it works better for you than it does for me.

I'm going to do the same as @Misfit : put them in Preras. :)

That was my intent, too; but the three Prera pens I have still sit in their retail packaging inside a large drawer after two(?) years.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Preras are nice pens, around the size of a Pelikan M200.

Maybe you’ll be inspired to try one from your drawer someday @A Smug Dill

Perhaps. I'm still undecided whether to keep those never-inked Pilot Prera pens as presents I just pull from a stash at short notice when something is required, even though I have never used a Prera myself; I just don't trust their snap-caps seal any better than the ones on Pilot MR pens, which are a great disappointment to me. (The screw-caps on Pilot 78G pens aren't much better in that regard.)

Meanwhile, I have been using the Plumix nibs in 78G and MR pens (very occasionally), as well as Pali 013 and PenBBS 494 pens.

Quite correct. The Wing Sung 3003 which is a similar looking (but actually larger) pen and takes the Pilot nibs, beats it in that respect. I have a test 3003 left inked since last November without drying out. I just uncapped it to check and found it wrote first touch. I am going to order a set of those as my nib holders.

This quite attractive Italian pen from the 40's, called Alfav Extra, arrived today. The seller says it was clearly inspired by the Wahl-Eversharp Skyline, and I do see some similarities -- the wavy lines design on the cap, the cap dome that is the same color as the barrel -- but it doesn't have the signature taper of that pen (of which I'm glad), and the dark green marbled material seems to me to be distinctive. I haven't written very much with it, but it seems a smooth and soft writer. I've made some questionable purchases lately, but this is firmly in the camp of "I'm glad I have it."

That pen is dripping with character! The top of the cap reminds me of the domes of Italian church basilicas, like St. Mark's in Venice, and the cap's golden waves invokes Art Deco to me. That dark olive color is super rich looking and really fits with the dark gold of the cap, clip, and lever.

1940's Italy is certainly intriguing and I think the look of that pen could inspire some great historical fiction. What a great piece of history. I'd certainly be glad to have it!
