Today I got in my Pilot 91 in Tsuki-yo blue with a M nib. I have a darker blue 91 with a FM nib to go with it. I think of one as my Kon-Peki and the new one as my Ama-Iro ;) The two nib sizes work out well together. My FM is better on note pads and the M better in my Journal.

Just received my FPD purchase today:

Elmo02Plus.thumb.png.2a7765763968ab6f15db20bed250321c.png

A nice feature of the design not quite obvious in the photo, is that the ink window is only partially covered by the cap. This results to a striking "color trim" illusion, which changes each time depending on the ink you've filled the pen with 🙂

As always, please excuse the unfaithful representation of the actual hue of the ink, due to my poor photography skills.

My Pilot Falcon SF in red resin arrived today and I've christened it with Diamine Red Dragon. Nice flex but not quite up to some of the vintage flex pens I already have. I've wanted a new Japanese pen for a while and have agonised over Sailor or Pilot. I already have one of each and like them both but eventually it was the Falcon's nib that swung it.

@pan101 That's a pretty looking pen.  I have a purple one with the same nib on mine (SF).  Although in your first photo, it really looks more pink than red....

Of course, at the moment, I don't have the budget for a lot of pen shopping, since the price of getting the driveway replaced just doubled  :wallbash: because the person doing the estimate didn't seem to notice that the hillside on the upper side of the driveway had DIRT under the (now gone) hedge.  And they then disappeared this morning before I could get hold of my husband to make sure that we were going to have the money to PAY for the work, after talking to them about how they're supposed to be putting in stuff to protect the basement windows (as well as stuff to protect the electric connections -- including for the phone line -- on that side of the house and the vent pipes for the furnace...).

When talking to the chick who is apparently the "supervisor", and some other guy, earlier this morning, I was REALLY good and did NOT say, "Do I have to be having this conversation with the PA A-G's consumer people?" -- although I DID point out that they were several weeks late in starting the job because of running behind schedule on *other* jobs -- and had to hire a third party contractor in the process.  AND that "Bob" (the guy who did the original estimate didn't seem to grok that there was SOIL under the hedge on the higher part of the yard).  I did say that they had been recommended by friends -- but chose to NOT give them our friends' names (they can look in their files to see what jobs they've had in the past year in that town).

Thank you Ruth, the first photo does indeed look more pink than the actual pen which is very definitely a red. Your travails with drive laying sound familiar with my own block paving of a driveway. Contractor engagement seems very rarely to run as smoothly as you might want, good luck in getting what you want and in budget.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Today’s mail had my Jet Pens order. The pen is a Pilot Metropolitan in Houndstooth with a CM nib. I filled it from a sample of Montblanc Oyster gray ink. It is on the Berry Leuchtturm notebook I use for a page a day.

Congratulations on your FPD pen. It sounds really interesting how the ink window adds the extra color. Fun!

A fine Kaweco x Moleskine (aka Perkeo) - the black looks pretty good with the gold trim and nib. And a converter to match. The foiled lettering will be polished off today!

The converter took more force to fit than usual, but searching online confirmed it is required. At first I though it wouldn't work.

Will work for pens...

Light on the downstroke: thought you used “Heroin” ink.

uıoɹǝH ʞɔɐſ inks can do a lot to one's perception, innit? 🙃

(I'm actually an overwriter, that's why line variation is inverted in that sample. Can do "normal" stub and italic though)

Kudos to Montegrappa for sobering up 😉

(maybe the Grappa has finally dried up 😆)

[edit] look at what can happen when Grappa's freely flowing during your design brainstorm meetings:

That's not only an insult to aesthetics, but a spit in the face of society and the human construct as a whole (+VAT). And no, I'm not buying the 'art' argument.

I have a couple of Metropolitans and like them a lot -- they're very well made for being low-priced pens, and they're a nice size and weight for my hand.  But don't have a CM nib (the grey one like the one in your photo has an M nib and the dark blue one has a stub nib).

My Aurora 88 came in today and it sure writes nice. It's my 3rd Aurora. Technically it's my 4th, but no longer have my first Optima. Now I have one in F, M, and B. It was a consignment pen from Chatterley Luxuries and from the box must be an older pen. My others have more modern boxes.

I'm shaking with excitement:

Here's my new reborn Kaweco Dia2, frankenized with a Bock 076 14K <M> nib with an ebonite feed from FPnibs.com in Malaga, Spain. Their service is out-of-this-world; I mean they must have secretly tuned this nib, because oh boy, is it smoooth 😁

I guess we'll never know why Kaweco decided to go with a 060 nib for this model in the first place, as it perfectly accommodates the larger 076, costs the same, and looks way better proportioned.

That's some classy packaging indeed... My Auroras always came in that bulky black wooden box with hinges, even the limited editions 😐

BTW, I'm searching for Aurora pen pouches/cases. Has anyone seen any? (apart from ebay). Supposedly they're still producing those new 🤔
