Oh that pen is just SOOOOO you!  I love the design on the nib, too.

I received a vintage Montblanc 146, 256, and more modern Noblesse Oblige recently:

I also got a Pelikan 400 which was supposed to have an OBB nib but actually has an OM so I'm talking with the merchant to see what we can do.

Not a whole pen, but a nib - a Lamy Z50 nib in '1.1i'.

I am keen to see how it compares with the 'F' and 'M' nibs on my two Pilot Plumixes, the 'CM' nib on my Pilot Metropolitan, the three widths of italic nib in my Parker Vector 'calligraphy' set, and the 1.5mm nib on my rOtring ArtPen.

All of these are stiff nibs made from stainless steel.

Some of them are too broad for my cramped scrawl.

I am hoping that the Lamy 1.1i is narrow enough for me to be able to use it comfortably for writing letters.

🤞

Espero que el Lamy 1.1i sea lo suficientemente estrecho para poder usarlo cómodamente para escribir cartas.

🤞

The Lamy 1.1 nib is ideal for writers who do small print. However, there are differences from one nib to another. The first 1.1 nib I had was on a Safari. Then I bought a Joy for my daughter and was surprised to find that the line was appreciably smaller. This has advantages and disadvantages. With the Z50 1.1 with the smaller stroke, the line variation is less noticeable. Still, it has a nice stroke. The thinner one has a rounded tip and the thicker one an almost square one.
For tiny letters, it should be a 0.6 or so. I once made a stub from a Jinhao 991 F. I can write miniatures on a 0.5 mm grid. And with line variation. Lamy nibs have rounded edges. This Jinhao is practically a right angle. That makes some scratching noticeable in certain movements.

Two Sailor pens in recent weeks.

1 a Pro Gear but with an odd nib...I have not seen one with PG on the nib (an HF).

The other a 1911 large (HM) but again something fun....the cap has the anchor on it!!!  Anyone know what is up with this model??

Thanks! If it was Thanksgiving weekend I'd go.  But I work all day Friday--I am not going to wake up at 430 AM Sat to make the 3 hour drive to Houston to perhaps possibly wait hours....seeing as it is walk in and not appointment based.  Sometime soon I will look into what I can do on my own.  Actually been so busy I havent written with the pens in the last 2 days!  Last resort I can send it in to one of the two places I see that offer 12 to 16 week turn around times.  Or put up with it. Both the 2 pens do write pretty well  if held just right and with a firm pressure.

I have resolved my issues through watching some videos and taking action.  Both my Platinum and the Montblanc are writing fine now.  I got a roll of .02 brass sheeting from Amazon, and really flossed and applied some even pressure too on the tines.  Montblanc I also decided to try filling with ink again.  Did the trick.  I thought my Kilk was coming Friday (but I had it mixed up with a record order), it may be here on Monday though. Ignore my poor scrawling....

The MB 149 centennial pen arrived today. My first (and only 149). It's a medium that writes on the medium/fine line.

I got this Sheaffer today, well it came back to me after a 30 year absence. It was my first fountain pen I bought in the mid 70's when I was in High School. I have cartridges coming tomorrow and will ink it up then. I soaked the nib for hours and not a hint of ink. I must have cleaned it well all those years ago. Many pens have come and gone, but it's special to have my first.

As i see it you are never an expert just a beginner learning a new trick!

I was a bit disappointed to find no acknowledgement of Fountain Pen Day from ANY of the Australian specialist pen stores.

Well if they don't want to attract my custom... I decided to make my own fun instead. Off I went to the local office supply chain store and bought a Lamy Safari gift set with a fountain pen and matching rollerball. I had a plan...

The barrel of the rollerball does indeed fit the fountain pen, creating a pen with no ink window. Will it slow down the dry out? I have often thought the 'ink window' a big part of the problem. Let the clock begin...

And then I went at the nice smooth medium nib with the wet&dry and micromesh to make a mini stub. Still smooth, but a bit of line variation more to my taste.

The ink is Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo.

Will work for pens...

I’m so overwhelmed with how cute this is! It’s my new Sailor PGS that celebrates the aquarium in Sapporo’s rockhopper Penguin exhibit. It’s part of a series that celebrates the colors of Sapporo.

This is one of the best packages I’ve seen. How does it meet expectations?

Your purchase has made me considering buying a Japanese pen.

It’s a lovely writer, a little bigger width than I prefer, but it’s getting italicized the next time Kirk Speer is in town. It’s smoother than my other Sailors, which are mostly MF and this is an M. Japanese packaging is incredible, I am glad that I found this pen new so that I could have the included penguin media.  I’m pretty happy with all of my Japanese pens, truth be told.

Top 5 of 20 currently inked pens:

MontBlanc 144 IB, Herbin Orange Indien/ Wearingeul Frost

Sailor x Daimaru Central Rockhopper Penguin PGS mini, Sailor Wonder Blue

Parker 88 Place Vendôme IB, Diamine Golden Sands

Parker “51” Desk pen EF, Sailor Manyo Konagi

Yiren Giraffe IEF, Pilot Yama-Guri/sky blue holographic mica

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

I hope your plan works. Very clever you to get that set, and pair the parts up like that. You made your own Fountain Pen Day celebration.

I got these two pens today. The Kaweco Highlighter set includes a Yellow Ice Sport pen with 1.9mm nib, plus cartridges with highlighter yellow ink. I could use it as a highlighter, which I don’t use often. Or swap nibs, and use it as a fountain pen. I’m not sure which I’ll do yet.

The MD Paper Products pen with M nib is by Midori. I’m considering them my Fountain Pen Day 2024 pens.

I got my Diplomat Excellence A2 from my fountain pen day order at PenChalet today. It seems like a nice pen. One thing is it doesn't post well, but I don't like the weight and balance while posted so that doesn't matter at all. I like the way the pen caps. The fine steel nib is smooth and wet with Montblanc Irish Green ink.

Received a Pilot Custom 743 with an FA nib tonight.

This thing is fun. Distinctly better than the 742 FA for “everyday” use.

Now I guess I’ll have to go down the aftermarket feed rabbithole….

In today's lunch time UPS.  Happy Fountain Pen Week!  ;)

Goodies from GalenLeather.

My Kilk Camera Laterna arrived and it is stunning.

I will ink it at work tomorrow.

This is my 2d order with GalenLeather and this time they threw in the goody bag--tea, coffee, 2 pen pouches, and other stuff.
