Oh my, all beautiful pens, but I LOVE the look of that red Esterbrook!!

I always think these are very underrated pens. I like mine very much indeed, in spite of the purists!

A friend of mine has been raving about the smooth nibs on some vintage Esterbrooks that she acquired, so I have been taking a little more notice of them (but I haven't progressed to serious searching yet). I don't know how the modern Esties compare - are they similar or completely different?

I admit that I am a total sucker for a pretty pen and I think the colors on these are beautiful! And I don't tend to listen to purists much anyway, so I *could* be tempted... ;)

Waterman 452 1/2 - OH my these pens are so much smaller than I anticipated based upon the size of the nib.

That's a #2 nib (the 2 in 452) so pretty small. The 1/2 means slender (a 452 without the 1/2 is maybe twice? as thick but with the same nib). They're not long, but if they have a V (for vest pocket, I think) they're much shorter.  I have an 0852 1/2 V that is 4.25" long. But I can write with it, posted. I have a 52 coming, which I hope will be a more satisfying size -- though still small by modern standards.

I believe the modern Esterbrook company offers an adaptor that allow their current-production pens to take vintage Esterbrook nibs. If you like the new pens esthetically and ergonomically then you can have the best of both worlds that way.

Oh, look who I'm "educating." Erase all that and substitute "That's a really nice pen."

Oh, I was going to say, completely different, but now I will have to go find an adapter.  Thank you!

Please TEACH ME!  I know very little about pens, but I am learning.  I had heard such great things about the Waterman #2 nib and I love the one in the Waterman 100 year.  I had expected these pens to be about that size.  I can tell you these pens are so very elegant. They are about the size of the Lady Agatha. And mine are actually for the vest.

The one with the scroll work came as a set.

The other one was an individual pen.

What a lovely pairing of pen and ink!

Will work for pens...

I was torn in what ink to use. I could have chosen a Blackstone eucalyptus scented ink that looks like a Spring green, a Kaweco Summer Purple cartridge or the the one I ultimately picked. The one Kaweco converter I found empty was a squeeze type. I’m not fond of those. I ended up using a syringe to fill the converter.  Got ink on 4 fingers in the whole process. The ink looks so cool on the paper towel.

I came very close to the same pairing, but went for Haha in the end! I think my pen has more blue in it than yours - I wonder if each one is slightly different? large.kaweco-iridescent.jpg.5c4fa0df06bd80f48c0f2fafc57175ab.jpg

This blue Pelikan M400 on the right has just landed to keep its vintage 400 cousin company. So now my flock has finally grown to two! (Is it legal to call two chicks a flock?) Anyway, it's so pretty, I love it already!! And the B nib is very, very nice.

Please, help me identify this pen which I found today (I have no information at all). It has some kind of lizard on nib and swan on cap (see pics)

Hello.

I found it.

Please check it out with an aihit fountain pen.

There were many listings on Japanese flea market sites as unbranded.

The lizard's nib logo and the waterfowl's cap logo matched.

Details of the manufacturer and brand are unknown.

Please enable translation in your browser, add Japanese to your search language, set the current region of your search settings to Japan, and copy and paste "aihit万年筆" and "アイヒット万年筆" in Japanese to search.

If I know the details, I will post it again.

I suspect it’s the lighting. But I’m not sure. I’ll have to take mine outside when it’s sunny, and see what colors come out.
