Happy Belated Birthdays,  @Misfit and @Pete of Killeen!  The Winnie pen is so adorable, and such a great match for your book!

Sending you and your son all the good vibes and well wishes, @AmandaW. May he continue to improve.

Thankyou.

Now I want a Winnie pen too.

Today's pen is a blue Lorelei 667 EF with MontBlanc's Vincent ink.

Will work for pens...

Aw, @AmandaW I’m sorry if I was a naughty enabler. I did look for that pen on UK sites, and didn’t find it at ones I knew carried Retro 51.  It was not a thorough search.

I wish you good luck if you decide to search for one.

Retro 51 makes the Winnie-The-Pooh in a rollerball and mechanical pencil. They had previous versions of rollerballs in 4 different colors, plus a fountain pen with a 100 Acre Wood theme.

The mechanical pencil uses a wide pencil lead. They are nice.

No pix yet (and technically yesterday, not today) but early Saturday morning went to an estate sale in the next county and got TWO pens.  I went because one of the pens in the listing photo was clearly a Parker 45, and I thought it was not a color I already had.  Turned out I was right -- it's "Dark Blue/Midnight" according to the P45 article on parkercollector.com.  Steel, F nib, so nothing exotic, but it did have an older press-bar converter installed -- plus two more in the box with it, and the other pen: which turned out to be a 51 Vac!  Thought it was burgundy at first glance, but now wondering if it's actually Cordovan Brown (!) -- it's been too gloomy the past couple of days to be able to do a functional side-by-side with my burgundy 51s.  Interestingly, it's got what appears to be a "T7" code on it -- I have a couple of 51 Vacs that have the "T6" code, but hadn't seen any others (i.e., with the T plus a different number) before now.

Of course the best part wast the price -- even though I told the estate sale people I didn't want the silver color BP in the box as well (one of them said they thought it was a Cross brand pen -- I figure that if they get even 50¢ US for that, they're ahead of the game.  And for $5 even without that BP?  I think I did very well for myself....

Oh and the guy running the sale was walking around offering Dunkin Donuts to the people standing in line waiting for the doors to open -- so a glazed chocolate donut made for a LOVELY breakfast before the sale started and the clouds were breaking.... B)

ETA:  Even if the pen does NOT turn out to be Cordovan Brown, I'd say that $2 US for a 51 Vac is a steal... (I'm figuring $2 apiece for the pens -- or maybe $1 for the 45 and $3 for the 51 Vac) and then 50¢ apiece for the two spare converters).

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Yeah, I really like Dunkin Donuts (although generally if I'm going to one, I'm more likely to get a blueberry muffin).

I got spoiled when we lived in Massachusetts because they were all over the place (not quite as many where I live now, but still, there is one downriver, just across the town line from us).

It's funny, I was going to try to figure out how close I was to one of the diners I sometimes go to for breakfast after hitting an estate sale -- there's a local chain (four locations in four counties) that have really good food and wonderful service -- I've been to all of them at LEAST twice over the years.  And there's another one that I've gone to if I'm going to something just across the county line to the east (which, unlike the four location chain, is open for dinner), but it's about 10 or so miles north of where yesterday's sale was.  And I got spoiled by where I grew up and where I went to college, where there were diners all over the place (they're not as frequent around here -- we're "too close" to the Midwest...).  While there are "family restaurant" chains all over (including the locally started "Eat n Park chain) -- they do vary in quality from location to location, and are often really crowded on the weekends (okay, admittedly so are the Freedom Square Diner chain locations...).

I was actually a bit surprised because I've only ever been to one other estate sale where they offered snacks or stuff like coffee to drink before the doors opened (and that one started at around noon on a Friday).  I got lucky in that there were only about 6 people in line when I got there, about a quarter to 7 or so -- some of the ones I've been to?  I really DO have to try to get there at least an hour before to have a reasonable spot in line (my husband tells me I should bring a chair to these, but I'd be afraid that someone would end up BUYING it...).

I was lucky yesterday in managing to get there -- and, once the doors opened at 7:30 AM, to figure out pretty quickly what room I needed to be in to look at the pens.  The odd part was that there was also a lot of jewelry laid out in that room, so they were only letting two shoppers in it at a time -- and the woman working that room had to call the guy running the sale on a small walkie talkie or cell phone, to come in and collect payment for the stuff in that room.  Fortunately it was early enough that there were 2 people in the room shopping, and one guy in front of me.  And I could more or less see the pen box across the room on top of a dresser.  So, while I left my house a little after 6 AM, I was home before 9 AM -- even with missing a turn leaving the sale and having to find a place to turn around and pull over so I could pull up the GPS on my phone, and taking a different route....

Got the 45 flushed out Saturday night, but haven't inked it up yet.  The 51 Vac I'll have to wait on until I can have a pro check it out (I don't know yet if it will need a new diaphragm or any other work on it); the advantage of a 51 Aero is that 9 times out of 10 it will just need a good flushing out -- but the advantage of a 51 Vac is that it holds more ink....

What a lovely example of a great pen! Your Flat Top microcollection is beautiful, Pakman. I just realized that the yellow is very fitting, and can see a little 8 bit Pacman holding the Duofold running around being chased by @amberleadavis’ inky ghosts.

That’s a beautiful shade of grey, @A Smug Dill!  I like the ink colors as well, a very Art Deco palette.
