I got this pen today

Thanks Guys!

I can not recall when last I have been so happy to get a pen.

Some years ago I got my hands on a Doric Eversharp, like the one posted above by Tashi - I got the pen and pencil set and the pen has the adjustable nib and yet, this Kaweco has made me even happier than getting that Wahl! Weird, but I got up this morning and was eager to start using my new Brass pen!

Both of these arrived in the past few days:  the Nava Design toWrite and the Manuscript ML 1856.  Two quite different styles to add to the collection.

Two Jinhao pens arrived today; a 95 in matte black with a black nib and black fittings, and a 155 in gray marble.

The TWSBI Eco Caffe Bronze with 1.1mm stub nib arrived today. I had to show it with coffee somehow, so it’s leaned against my Rtic brick red coffee cup. I chose red since it was my Dad’s favorite color, and it matches Santa’s suit.

I used the Vanness White Lightning for the first time in the J Herbin Cafe des Iles ink. Then, I made a small mess filling the Eco.

I got 2 pens (inks too!) as birthday gifts today. A blue Pilot Lady Elite with a fine nib, and a 1928ish Parker “True Blue”vest ring top.  The true blue is a grail from my earliest collecting days, when I had no clue how to find pens that I saw and loved. The Elite was always on back burner, I liked them, but I was meh on black, although the burgundy is really pretty- there was always another blue pen to chase.  large.IMG_0968.jpeg.b201ae0cc1b41a2a99c01f067757b41c.jpeg

Sailor x Daimaru Central Rockhopper Penguin PGS mini, Sailor Wonder Blue

Parker 88 Place Vendôme IB, Diamine Golden Sands

Salz Peter Pan 18k gold filled filligree fine flex, Waterman Serenity Blue

Pilot Silvern Dragon IB, Iroshizuku Kiri-Same

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

I don't think I've ever seen an Elite in blue before.  Is that an older pen or a new one?

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

I got a pen today. It’s the collaboration of Kaweco and Galen Leathers. Maybe I’ll post a photo, when I can.

My Mom fell off her bed last night. A trip to the ER today, which is still ongoing has me away from home. Sadly, my Mom broke a bone in the fall, the femur above the knee.

A hug from a stranger (me) Misfit for you and you Mom. Have you got your new pen with you while you're waiting?

Hi @Scribs thank you so much for the hug. I left that pen at home, and grabbed the Pilot Explorer to take notes. It’s nice to meet you.

So sorry to hear that. I do hope your Mum recovers quickly.

No new pens for me. And none ordered, so there's nothing on the way. No inks either. And no plans for anything. I am still enjoying following everyone's posts and hoping for inspiration.

Will work for pens...

Oh no, I am so sorry. I hope that your mom gets fixed up right quick. Hugs to you and her.  I’m a message or text away if you need someone to talk to.

I hadn’t either. It turns out that the Elite/Elite Lady line had some really cool colors in the ‘80s.  There’s a turquoise demonstrator that I would love to find someday.

Thank you all so very much. I had hoped my Mom wouldn’t break any more bones. I guess that was wishful and hopeful.

The expected is surgery. But naturally we need the orthopedic surgeon specialist to answer that. I just hope, if rehab comes after, it can be at the John Knox Village rehabilitation center.

Watermans CF set....appears unused...not even the slightest sign of ink when run through the ultrasonic!. Complete with papers and an unopened box of cartridges (well....opened now and re-hydrated and writing nicely!). I've removed engravings before so I think thats part of why this was so cheap?...might upgrade the nib section to gold??

@cat74 nice find, and an attractive pair too. How do you remove engravings?

Not as scary as it sounds but I tape off anything you want to keep, like manufacture stamps etc., and metal pieces. then start off with 600 grit sandpaper making sure to not flat spot the area then move up through grits - 800, 1500, 2400, 3600 etc. etc. finishing with 12,000 grit (maybe even a liquid rubbing compound) to get back to a mirror finish

I have a little micro mesh progression that I use.

These particular personalization's do not seem as deep as others I've seen

Oh! - I keep the section installed so that nothing gets rounded off where joints are so that nothing looks odd.

The brand is "Ulpia." I got the model "117" which is a C/C filler. Access to the converter is by unscrewing the knurled … ring

ULPIA remains being a thrilling  brand and I had to wait some weeks to get my own model manufactured: 117 B.C. Medusa Negra Palladium.

Since ebonite is not my cup of tea —besides feeds— I was very keen to get one of these Juma resin pens made of deeply layered „mineral resin“ that reminds me of the craftsmanship of SCRIBO and the Feel Oceano I own, with its dark-blue breaking waves foaming over a faceted barrel offering you a deep insight. Techniques you also know from OMAS.

Okay, I admit I have a weakness for Italian and Spanish spirit and these Mediterranean themes, so you can hardly consider Medusa Negra a coincidence after Feel Oceano 😊

However, I am fascinated by this grey structures inside the resin and they fit perfectly with the palladium trim and the big nib, it’s a clean old-fashioned design pairing a plain modern barrel cut. Yumm! And yes, there is that huge nib on a mid to narrow section, it calls for the fans of Pelikan M1000. In terms of flow this pen follows the M1000 way on wetness, it‘s a real Feuerwehrschlauch for inks, what I definitely like. The feed is made of ebonite —you remember the exception point— and funnily I had to soak it twice but after that: nib is smooth and the ink is wet. To put this in the words of Neal deGrasse Tyson: "You've got to have good flow to feed a broad"

Proportions are perfect! The body is short and girthy, but not too thick and section comes exactly at the right point for effortless writing. What I like: When you see the pen capped, it’s a modern clean body with a nice tiny clip in nib shape — when you take the pen uncapped it is an old-fashioned instrument from the 1920‘s with classic nib engraving. The perfect mix.
Following my own policy a pen calls for a clear contrast in ink colour, so this grey-anthracite was inked with Montblanc 100y Origin Coral (here it comes the marine stuff again ,-)

In advance, please pardon me, the photos I took cannot cover my enthusiasm for this pen but I hope they can give you a first impression.
Take a look!
