I got this pen today

Got this in the mail today all the way from Taiwan. The Maki-e artisan had managed to capture the turbulence of the swordfish fishing process pretty well in her work for Fine Writing International.

I saw this pen on Instagram. I am a fan of the artist, Seishu, and would like to get some of her work one day. She is Taiwanese but was given her artist name by her Japanese teacher, which I guess is a probably a big honor.

Enjoy your beautiful pen! (I am routing for the swordfish! )

Thank you, PithyProlix. Like you, I’m routing for the swordfish as well.

Not an easy feat, for a non-Japanese to be conferred her art-name in the lineage of her teacher, Yamazaki Mushu. Her work is truly sumptuous.

A Pilot Explorer Matte Black. I changed the nib to a CM (from a Plumix) and inked it with Teranishi Travelling Sepia.

Will work for pens...

It’s the Darth Vader to @Misfit’s stormtrooper! I love the nib switch and the ink color as well. The blue Explorer keeps catching my eye.

My new pen that arrived yesterday is the Wing Sung 618 in demonstratior cobalt with gold trim. I realized too late that there was a gold nib version, so if I like it, I may replace the nib or buy another of the bazillion colors available.  No pictures, as I cleaned it right away.

Wing Sung 698 SF, Pelikan Edelstein Golden Lapis/ Sapphire

Cross Wanderlust Malta M, DeAtramentis Columbia Blue-Bronze-Copper

I received a Visconti Van Gough "The Novel Reader" today. It's a teal/bluish green that the camera isn't picking up. The nib is medium. It wrote straight out of the box.

Hard, steel nib, with no flex. Not a gushing wet writer - politely handled the MB Leo Tolstoy ink I put in it.

The lime green ink it came with is practically unreadable. Something for an art project rather than writing.

Estie oversize, GS-J nib. Smooth like butter. Not as wide as a Pilot <CI>, subtle line variation in print and script writing.

I really need to be finished now. I only have a few months to build a war chest for the Dallas Pen Show!

@SLinkster I’d really love to read your impressions of the Journaler nib, and maybe a writing sample. I’d you don’t mind, that is.

I know Gina based it on the 9314-M Esterbrook nib. I bought one of those, and need to get it put in a vintage Esterbrook. Soon I hope.

It's a lovely nib. I need to write out a couple of pens before I ink anything new. I should be able to set something up this weekend - just put a reminder in my calendar.

This arrived at lunchtime. Stripped down, fossilised old sac dug out, ultrasonic'd, nib polished, cap edge dressed and new sac fitted. Blue/grey Mabie Todd Swan Snake Skin pattern with a BHR lever and a 14CT flexible medium/fine No.2 nib.

@pan101 wow that nib! The writing is wonderful.

Thank you Misfit but my writing is terrible and rarely does justice to the pen. I picked this pen up quite cheaply on eBay and it looked a bit sorry for itself. I'm pleased I could give it new life and the nib is very nice.

@AmandaW and I both swapped the same CM nib to our Explorers. The pens demand you join us with the blue Explorer. The Force will be with you.

I will add the blue Explorer to my next order having been Force Compelled by the Dark Side.

Received my first Safety Pen today, a Waterman 14S (mid-1910s I think), a US body with a French 14K Nib, appears to be a M-ish Stub with a lil bounce to it. Has a brass alignment pin, hope to eventually find an ebonite pin so I can use some of my favorite iron gall inks.

For this I decided to use Waterman Inspired Blue which I haven't used in a little bit (been using Mysterious Blue as my daily driver lately).

I really like this pen already.

😢 But, but, my pen is in disguise. I’m on the side of the rebellion not the empire.

Which Explorer pen would be a droid, oh, the gold tone could be C-3PO.

Aren’t you a little short for a stormtrooper?

How can you know that?  I hope you enjoy the pen whenever you order and get it. They are lightweight, and write as well as any of their lower priced Pilot buddies.
