New pen day! Just arrived this lunchtime a Laban Mento with medium nib (looks fine) and it's a whopper! I will be inking it with Havasu Turquoise and changing my pen for today.

What a beautiful design. There’s something almost First Nations about it. Enjoy!

I see that you received it safely.

Initially, the character was to be used only once, for a poster announcing the introduction of SUICA. (Super Urban Intelligent CArd.) Later, after seeing the poster, the advertising client decided to use the character in all advertisements and on the card itself.

Thanks, I thought it had a 1960's vibe about it.

NP&ID - still have a couple of things outstanding, but that's two other threads

Magna Carta Sapphire Grand Valentine, stub; with Stipula Nettuno "Dark Red" (reads maroon to me). Apologies for the fuzz on the glass ink bottle, I wiped it twice for the photo op but...it's fuzzy anyhow.

Also an inexpensive Cross Aventura, medium nib, that was on sale. And some super-stealthy ink of some sort, it's so black I can barely see it even under two Ott-lites 😎

@inkstainedruth, i sent you a private message about how to project from your computer to your TV. No hurry, but I thought it is better than a long post on the forum that is about another topic.

Sorry no new pens today. I was bidding on a Japanese fountain pen on YahooJapan, but it went over my budget. Sigh. :)

An ebonite pen is coming from India (thanks to recommendations by FPF expert, but it is taking its time since the India courrier took it to the East Coast, then sent it by surface mail, which means by ship from West Coast to Hawaii.

No pix yet (I had a lot of running around to do this afternoon), but picked up three vintage pens at an estate sale earlier today:'

1. Waterman hard rubber (ebonite?) ringtop lever filler (might be an Ideal, according to another person at the show, who had a small magnifier with a light on it),  Not sure of the nib width, but guessing maybe an F...

2. Esterbrook J (I think) with a 3968 Firm Broad "Sunburst" nib.  Cap is almost clearly not original -- it's black but the barrel is the Blue Mackerel coloration).

3. Esterbrook Dollar Pen (?) -- Might be some "A" model but I'm having trouble tracking down the approximate year of manufacture, because the clip is a bit unusual, compared to the different clip styles on the Esterbrook.net website.  It also has a "Sunburst" nib: 3668 Firm Medium.

If the weather cooperates somewhat, I'm going to try to get pix of the Dollar Pen, to see if the hive-mind collective can narrow down the time frame.

They will probably all need repairs, but at roughly a dollar apiece?  Even major repairs will not make them too expensive; for five bucks total I got the three pens, two partially filled bottles of vintage/semi-vintage ink (one of Quink Washable Brown -- bottle style that of the bottles of Microfilm Black I have, so guessing 1940s-1950s); and one of Skrip Blue -- yellow box with the ink-jar shelf window style bottle (the back of the Skrip box says "SHEAFFER EATON TEXTRON", if that helps anyone narrowing down the approximate time frame); and a paperback with Agatha Christie stories.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

@USG Sometimes I hit submit, and nothing happens. I refresh the website, and my post is usually there.  Touch submit, and it usually submits that time.

LOL, that's exactly what I did.  After hitting submit 4 times with nothing happening, I refreshed the page only to see 4 posts...  WhaddaMess 😁

New pen. Impulsive buy. Special nib. <sigh>

A few weeks ago, I bought a limited edition Leonardo from Stilograph Corsani. It is facetted ebonite with a #8 nib. It was such a fabulous pen to look at, hold and write with that, when I learned the edition was almost sold out, I had to have another in one of the other ebonites. Turned out, that this one is even more beautiful than the first and is an equally wonderful writer. The pen is called "Arborea Larch."

That’s mesmerizing, @dms525! I live in an area with lots of larch trees, and the material of the pen evokes the environment the trees grow in.

Today is the first day that I tried to recover a “ghost post” and refresh didn’t work. It brought up my previously published post instead.
