I pulled out my pen to show you.  I loved the nib and had the pen created just for it.

The other amazing pen / nib combo is the @terim Peyton Street Pen pens that take vintage nibs and create new pens.

Or here is a custom pen that holds a Sailor music nib.

The Newton with the Sheaffer Imperial nib/section looks like it might have the sac protector from the Touchdown filling system (?). How is it filled? I'm not usually one for swirly finishes but the barrel material is beautiful.

The pen with the Sailor nib: does it have the original feed, too? That's my purple! 😍😊

Two pens arrived today - both were a long and worrying wait from opposite sides of the planet - both are as new Parker 45 with 14K nibs. Rather sweet that they landed in my post office box on the same day. :)

The red one is a US made Parker Coronet with an X nib - extra fine. The silver Flighter is UK made with a fine italic nib.

That Coronet is sharp looking! And I'm jealous of your italic nib on your new 45 ...

Wonderful - enjoy!

I'm also jealous of that italic nib! And very classy looking pens.

The Newton uses a Sheaffer cartridge or a cartridge converter.

The Thompson has a captured converter though you can use a Sailor cartridge if you want.  The ink is Birmhingham Angel Fish and it's a great wet writing super saturated ink.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

The reason I asked about the feed is that I have an old Platinum 3776 with a wonderful nib but I broke the feed (please don't ask about how I managed to break it...). Since it is an old pen with an ebonite feed, not used in more contemporary versions of the 3776, unfortunately I don't think it will be easy to find a replacement. So, I was wondering about re-homing the nib in a different pen with a new feed.

I was referring to the purple body of the pen. :)

Thanks.

OOPS, okay, the nib / feed issue, I'm not sophisticated enough to know the answer.  :)

The material looks purple in most of my posts but it is actually translucent green with purple. I'll try and get better pictures. I don't know who made the material as I bought the pen used.

New pen day here too after a long and anxious wait - it seemed to be lost in transit for a while. My first, and after that experience probably only, old Japanese pocket pen. I have no idea what the model is or when it might have been made, but it's in great condition and the colour is lovely, perhaps more green than is showing in my photo. I have filled it with Pilot Iroshizuku Syo-ro, but I think that new Pilot teal that's greener might be a better match.

Lovely! Which nib?

I believe the model name is simply 'Lady' and it is made in Japan. If it is like mine, there is no date/factory code visible - the code is likely stamped on the part of the nib that is within the section. If it's the version I think it is, it originally sold for 5000 yen.

If it writes as good as my Pilot Ladies it will be a fantastic everyday writer, as nice as the Elites I have, even with a slightly smaller 14k, instead of the Elite's 18k, nib. Sorry about the troubles you had with transit - that said, I doubt it will be your last Japanese pocket pen. 😉

It has a fine nib. Thankyou for the name and the links! It is indeed a lovely writer - very smooth in spite of it's fineness. I am very happy with it.

Good to hear that you like it. While I am really fond of Pilot Lady pens, I'm not trying to actively collect them (or anything else, for that matter) but, if I find a one at a good price, I just buy it - haven't been disappointed yet. Maybe the most reliably great vintage pens I have experience with.

All the Japanese lady-styled pocket pens I've found have F nibs (or, in the case of some Sailors, are unmarked but write like Fs). Surely that must be the most popular nib size in Japan but I'm curious if there are also other nib sizes.

This box is so nice, I may have to find a special box just to keep it in. 😁

This little puzzler arrived today. It's supposed to be a Parker Duofold, but neither the material pattern nor the size (127 mm long, 12 mm wide) is listed on the Duofold page on parkercollector.com. The photos don't capture the color very well, it is lapis blue and (off?) white.

Puzzle solved thanks to posters in a thread I started for that purpose: this is a True Blue (sort of a Duofold Lite) in the Streamlined size, probably from 1929. And the filler works, I'm soaking the insides in pen flush at the moment, but it looks like it should write quite well.

Nice looking pen, especially for such an oldie! Congratulations on such a nice find!

It is a paulownia box.

 Japan's finest wood.

White, light, hard, durable, hygroscopic and airtight.

It is used as a container for high-end crafts such as lacquering and as a material for high-end furniture.

Eventually it changes to honey color and has aged beauty and taste.

Oh wow, thanks for this information! I do not usually keep all the ordinary boxes that most of my new pens come in, but this one is most definitely a keeper. Even the outer paper box is far too pretty to throw away!
