Experiences with Pilot Service/Support? E95 needs repair.

So I was flushing my e95s out today before changing inks, and the nib fell off into the water. Didn't damage the nib at all, but a thin layer of what looks like epoxy was on the underside of the nib.

Most of that flaked off while I was drying the nib contemplating what to do. Thinking as to repairs I've done, resetting an inlaid nib is beyond what I have tools or knowledge to do. I was thinking shellac, but that's fragile and I can't imagine it standing to writing.

Has anyone had experience with the Pilot support center in Florida? I'd gladly spend some money to get it fixed- this pen has kind of been my right arm during the pandemic.

I'm sorry to hear that! I have heard that Pilot is generally good with regards to customer service, so I hope that they will take care of you. That would be how I would approach the problem at first.

Although it was quite some time ago, 4-6 years, I think, my experience was excellent. I had an "old" Burgundy (not red) Falcon with a cracked cap., Called first and sent it down there to Florida. I don't recall exactly how long it took (did not seem excessive) and received it back with a new cap and clip, and a nicely polished barrel. No charge for the service either. My only expenditure was my shipping and postal insurance costs.

Very positive experience. Please keep in mind, YMMV.

Let us know what your experience is... and every success.

Yes.  They are wonderful.  They first gave me some suggestions of things to try at home, but when that did not fix my problem they repaired my pen.  They also inquired as to my preferred ink colors; when the pen was returned it came with cartridges and a few Pilot Varsities accompanying it.

Sounds like a class act to me. It's nice to hear more good stuff for a change.

Congratulations. So, what color did you get?

I think they sent me both brown cartridges in two sizes and some blues as well.  The Varsities came in black - I give them away as gateway pens as I think they actually write quite nicely! ;)
