Pictures Old and New Savannah and Terracotta Safari boxes

In a homage to the originals, but updated to reflect a more environmentally friendly approach Lamy supplied an updated version of the original box in some markets.  I've included pictures of the Old and New next to each other below.

I'm very interested in the Lamy approach to packaging and try to collect examples so if anyone on here has some or sees some on online auction sites please let me know.

Cheers,

Julian

Thanks for the comparison.  I like the look of the old boxes and the new boxes are a nice tribute.  Not having bought one when it first came out, for years I wanted a Savannah Green Safari, but I couldn't bring myself to part with the asking price for vintage versions, particularly as ABS plastic is prone to embrittlement as it ages.  The re-release of the Safari in these colours really appeals to my sense of nostalgia, the Safari having been released while I was in high-school in Germany.  I also purchased a Terracotta Red Safari, but that one doesn't appeal to me as much.

Unfortunately, my Savannah Green Safaris that I obtained didn't come with one of those wonderful new boxes.  That said, I did buy mine well below RRP from an online retailer, so that mine were never going to come with premium packaging.

The Lamy  boxes has not been available in many countries.😡

I think I saw that some distributors in the US had them.  I had mainly seen them in Asia and had to get mine from South Korea.  On the Lamy Japan Facebook page I think it said these boxes were limited availability.

While I understand that different markets might get different marketing something like that would have been good for all markets.

LAMY makes some weird decisions about that quite often. Many of those things aren't even available in Germany. People had to import special edition ink bottles because Germany only got cartridges.
