Question on early Waterman / Aiken Lambert pens

Just wondering if there were any lacquered waterman / Aiken lambert pens in the early days of the company.

I came across this pen with a silver overlay that seem to have a think layer of lacquer or a paint applied to the outer surface under the overlay. Nothing seem to be applied to the part of the section that gets covered by the cap.
Current cap looks to be a replacement.

There are few places where the coated surface has flaked off. this layer seems to go under the overlay so its unlikely to be something put in after the overlay is placed on the barrel.

the edge between the coated and non coated surface is as follows :

Just wondering if this was historically done or something that might have happened in a recent restore ?

I'm not 100% sure if this is a waterman / Aiken lambert. Feed matches that of a early straight cap waterman both in size / length and shape. only part that is marked is the nib which hold Aiken Lambert markings.

Barrel is not marked but stamped sterling.

AAAndrew might know. He's often over in Nib subsection, in he does dip pen nibs and would know about Aiken Lambert.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.
