Private Reserve developments

I went looking for new ink to try, and came across several new (at least to me) versions from Private Reserve, who are reportedly under new ownership.  One is the "FAST DRY group.  I bought one bottle of "American Blue" to try out.  WOW.  It is gorgeous - the best rich blue I have used yet.  And given that it does run liberally, it is a good thing it actually does dry quickly on paper.  I have only been using since yesterday (in a Pelikan 805 and a "new" Parker 51), but so far I see no indication it will clog.  They also have a new "Extended Cap Off" version for dolts who don't recap their pens for protracted periods while their minds wander off.  I have not tried that one, and do not plan to abuse my pens in that manner.

One of the first bottled inks I ever bought was old formula PR American Blue and loved the color.  Have not tried any of the new reformulated inks yet, so good to know if and when I run out of the old bottle (which admittedly I haven't used in a long time, or my bottle of old formula Purple Mojo).

I've been wondering how the inks will fare made to Yafa group standards.  Their production was already apparently getting outsourced toward the end under the previous owner, perhaps it was to the Yafa group manufacturing facilities already then?

The "old" PR made fast dry versions of their inks also.

One of my first bottles of PR ink was Fast Dry American Blue. I always thought it was just "fast dry" relative to the regular kind :) , but yes it is much faster drying.

I keep meaning to get a bottle of FD Sherwood Green, as that is one of my favorite inks but the standard version is notoriously slow drying.

Someone please turn off the lights when YAFA gobbles up the last independent entity.

It'd be difficult to imagine Yafa successfully gobbling up all of Diamine, Herbin, Colorverse, Sailor, Platinum/Nakaya, Pilot/Namiki, Aurora, Ranga, Edison Pen Company, etc. one day.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Well better than PR inks dying out entirely. There are some great colors and ink properties in the PR lineup.

PR Lake Placid Blue was my favorite.  Very nice color and pretty well behaved in a wet Pelikan 800.  That was many years ago, though.  Haven't tried any PR lately.

@dhanks I can make the exact same comment you just did and only change the word "favorite" with "first".  Lake Placid blue was my first bottle of in and purchased it together with my first fountain pen.... A Pelikan M800 (blue stripe).   I really liked that color.  Haven't had a bottle since then.

That was actually my first PR ink and I liked it a lot.

I will give it a try. I do have the DC super show and I do not recall the name of the other. I love the huge cap, there is no pen that won't fit in there.
