I just put a FPR Ultraflex screw-in nib unit into a Kanwrite Desire.  I'm not sure if it really screwed in or just fit in, but there was no leakage at the section, no leakage at the converter/nib unit junction, the ink fed perfectly, the nib performed perfectly, and the cap fit on the pen without hurting the nib. So far, so good.  Who knows what tomorrow may bring?

That's great! My failure was trying to replace just the nib with an FPR nib, not the whole nib unit.

That all kinda makes sense: I believe (actually I'm fairely sure) that Kanwrite manufacture FPR's nibs (and nib units) to FPR's specifications - so it's not altogether surprising that they have the same threading.  My small sampling of Kanwrite nibs seem to be stamped out of thicker metal sheets, though - and the shape may not be identical either.

I would rather put it to "alignment" or "fitting", but I may very well be wrong.

My understanding is that you should not have issues substituting the nibs. However, there is a caveat: if you want good flow, you want to ensure proper contact between nib and feed. This leads to heat-setting them so they adapt to each other. It was also my understanding that when you ordered a pen with an UltraFlex nib and ebonite feed from FPR, Kevin used to try to ensure they were as properly fitted as possible before leaving their hands.

If you start with a nib and feeder that are perfectly set and substitute the nib, it is possible you do not replace it in exactly the same position or that slight misalignments or differences in curvature make them seem not to "agree" with each other. This should be trivial to fix (specially with ebonite feeds) by heat-setting the feed and nib to restore proper contact.

But, for all I know, and my own experience, their #6 should fit into any properly standard #6 nibbed pen or unit.

If you are to be ephemeral, leave a good scent.

Comparing three workhorses with semiflex:

The best writing experience is from vintage nib Parker Duofold. Several factors can bias the feeling: wear of flexible material due to use and M size point. The nib just dance around the paper! Is so soft.

I tested several nibs and feeder options in the Wingsung 699 and finally got a real competitive and cheap option. The original plastic feeder plus the flexiblenibcompany semiflex nib. Is the same semiflex nib you can get from Fountain pen revolution. You don't need ebonite feed.  To adapt the nib to this pen, the nib must be trimmed 0,5 cm.

Pilot Custom 743 with the biggest falcon nib is a solid performer but write the smallest and maximum aperture of tines is the smallest. Is not dancing in paper but is a solid performer for daily work. The amount of ink that it delivers is just perfect. I got the ebonite replacement feeder that flexiblenibcompany sells and I am holding to change it.

None of those three can compete against de Ultra Flex Nib in a jowo#6 ebonite and inside a Rangapens Giant9B crimson red. But unless you go eyedropper the default cardridge is just not enough.

Glad to see you got to a satisfying point. And thank you so very much for reporting your experience.

Fountainpenrevolution order arrived today.

One ultra flex, two cheap nibs F and another Flex. To the right the Flexible Nib Factory semiflex nib that was quite unremarcable.

Fountain Pen Revolution Ultra Flex Nib, fits perfect on Ebonite #6 jowo housing (sold by Flexible Nib Factory). This is a great, fun and working combo. But my idea was to fit the flex on a TWSBI Vac700R.

Comparison of nibs, to the right the Jowo EF #6. None of those three nibs fits in the TWSBI Jowo#6 feeder because the housing pushed them in a way that the two tines are separated.

With some effort, the finally fit, but the quality of them was 1/10. Needles.

In order to fit the Ultra Flex Fountain Pen Revolution Nib, i tried the ebonite feed for Jowo#6 in the TWSB VAC700R housing.

The TWSBI Housing is propietary and you need to open a line in the Ebonite feeder to skip the plastic flap. I tried to remove the flap but wasn't that easy. A cheap replacement can be found in fpnibs.com, but i had three ebonite jowo#6 to spare. But it worked with first feeder easily.

With ebonite feeder, the tines close correctly.

Is not writing perfectly, but quite good IMHO. Sometimes stops and sometimes you have to play with the TWSBI Vac700R rear valve to control the flow. The flow is somekind inconsistent, but i need to make more tests. Pigmented Inks will help too i guess.

What to do with the other flex Fountain Pen Revolution nib? Lets try on a Winsung 699.

After filing and lightly polishing the rear part of the nib to make it shorter, it fits well in the pen. After three tries, the tines closed correctly.

It's working and indeed is better than the original WinSung 699 nib (even the architect/Naginata). Not so fun as the ultra flex.

Quite a ride for me, i learn a lot and i won't stop testing and improving the Ultra Flex TWSBI Vac700R.

The easiest working solution:

- Opus88 demostrator / Any rangapens treated for Jowo#6 (i do love ebonite Giant 9B - 2 weeks + 1 week of parcel travel).

- FountainPenRevolution Ultraflex Nib: soft, juicy and fun.

- FlexibleNibFactory Jowo#6 ebonite feeder+housing.

How did you get the FPR nib to fit in the Wing Sung 699, what feed.  I have tried unsuccessfully! 😔
