ID'ing a Century to sell at fair price

Hi all!

 

I read a few posts here in the sub-forum to avoid asking super-redundant questions about the Century.

 

Looking for confirmation that this is a Century II with a 14K gold nib (*not* just gold plated??) Marked 14K 585 on the nib. Cap is marked "1/20th 10K gold filled" and it has a green tinted Cross converter, and I've always assumed it was a gold nib. Feels like one. It is a really smooth writer, but I have used it sparingly since it was purchased in the 90's, because the section is too narrow. I used to really love it, but either my hands were smaller in high school or -- more likely -- I just didn't know I could find wider pens that I preferred.

 

Anyway, I don't know what to ask for it, but it seems it could be a great starter gold nib for somebody at a pretty low price.

Hey Dan. This is an original Century fountain pen and not a Century II. The Century II came out later and has a wider profile and a cap band. Wayne.

Ah ok, thank you! That makes sense. It looks like the Century II came out in the late 90's, and this was definitely earlier.

 

Do you have an inkling of what a fair price would be? Now that I know what I'm looking for, I see a couple online that are all shined up and look aesthetically better, for $90-$125. So unless I can get rid of all those tiny scratches, I know I'll be below that!

It is a gold filled pen,too much polishing can take it out.

These and the chrome plated variant are nice pens....but horrible fingerprint magnets.
