I used a glass pen and a q-tip in an attempt to capture the 25 colors.  All except the large bottles are labelled Standard (which I've appreviated to ST) Sheen (SN) and Shimmer (SH).

Thanks for sharing (or, on the flip side, the spoilers for some)!

I'm pretty sure ink number 22 is Black Ivy. You can see from the labels on the other bottle that the second word is not Joy (see ink number 19 for what the word would look like), and it does not begin with a capital T (see inks number 4, 11 and 17).

Or you could just cheat and go to Cult Pens' product page for the item, which lists all of the names. :)

Exactly.  My calendar showed up yesterday and went into the closet 'til December 1st.  I actually held onto the original version box hoping Diamine would sell refill sets.

La Couronne du Comte was selling, even at a discounted price until quite recently, sets of all 25 Diamine Inkvent Blue Edition inks in 50ml bottles, from which you can refill those 7ml bottles seven times over. ;)

p.s. I just checked, and LCdC still offers the set.

The briefest of summaries.

The calendar is about 11" x 17" and was shipped in a cardboard box that fits perfectly.  I would bet Diamine sent the calendars in these boxes to the retailers.  The front has 25 windows that can be opened.  Behind each is a bottle of ink.  1-24 are 12 ml bottles and the 25th is 25 ml.  Instead of opening the doors, I cheated and simply opened the box and slid out the plastic tray.

The 12 ml bottles are completely encased in shrink-wrapped plastic and require a knife to unpeel.  No way is ink going to spill in shipping.

I used a glass pen and a q-tip in an attempt to capture the 25 colors.  All except the large bottles are labelled Standard (which I've appreviated to ST) Sheen (SN) and Shimmer (SH).

First impression?  I prefer the 2019 Inkvent.

Thanks for the first impressions 🙂

To me the color selection looks nice, a good mix.

Some hopes&dreams I had for a few specific inks might be met with disappointment tho 😉

Typo here. The 25th is a standard 30ml bottle of All the Best.

At the current levels of unreliable postal delivery performance, especially on the part of Australia Post, I suppose I may receive it by the end of October?

I just received a Cult Pens order via that new service they're using - ordered on the 22nd Sept, delivered into my post office box on the 30th - 8 days from UK to Western Australia is something of a record in my experience. Certainly better than the 3 months or so of my last two!

Edited to clarify: that was their ordinary tracked postage, not the expedited service.

Will work for pens...

That's very very good. I see the status of my order is showing as Shipped, but so far I haven't even received any notification from Global-e advising of a tracking number, so I don't think the contents of my order has even been physically dispatched.

Thanks for the tip, but I think you misunderstood - I was hoping to replenish for the annual Advent calendar with different inks that would fit into the spaces created in the original.  I actually had asked Pen Chalet last year if they could put together a refill set of samples and pen maintenance supplies that would fit the doors, but it didn't work out. Old-fashioned Advent calendars were wood and not cardboard, so they would get re-used each year.  Seems less wasteful.

Ok . . . I really love the idea.  I love Advent and building up to the Christmas season and like Advent calendar type activities in general.  However, as muchbas i like the idea, I need to choose my own ink.

I'd be more into a gadgety/stationery calendar: syringe, converter, dorky fountain pen paper clips, of course something chocolate (are there chocolate pens?), maybe a bottle of the color of the year (it's not something I buy but usually wonder about), an unusual or coveted nib . . . That kind of thing.

A couple of vendors at the Chicago Pen Show had this year's Invent Calendar for sale, but I didn't look all that carefully.  One vendor (Lemur Ink, IIRC) had some of the larger fancy bottles of last year's Inkvent selections, but didn't have swatches for them and I didn't remember which ones I remembered liking  in the reviews on here well enough to buy any of them....

w00t! My Diamine Inkvent Red Edition was delivered yesterday, notwithstanding recent troubles with Australia Post's glut of parcels on the backlog for processing.

So are the little bottles glass or plastic?  And is the the same amount of ink?  And can you show them to us... and and and and

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

See the images posted by @lascosas on page 2 of this thread. There are 24 small 12ml bottles and one 30ml bottle and they are all plastic bottles.

  • 1 month later...

Hopefully this discussion thread is also the right place to show the Inkvent inks?

The first ink of this year's Diamine Red Edition Inkvent Calendar (Thank you, Diamine!!!) is called Seize the Night and reminds me a lot of the weird colour I only know from KWZ Brown Pink. Seize the Night falls into this space between brown and purple, depending on the undertone of the paper and probably ink flow.

On the more cream paper of the lined A6 Life Vermilion No. 69 cahier the ink appears much more warm and brown than on the blank 1917 Leuchtturm A5 journal page. The upper line with the ink's name in the Leuchtturm journal is written with a dipped glas nib, showing that Seize the Night might even appear dark brown to black in heavy layers.

Pens I used were a vintage OMAS Extra EF, comparable in size to a Kaweco Sport, and a Pilot Parallel Pen 2.4 mm.

Do I like this ink? Well, it is definitely interesting and the colour is hard to pinpoint and even harder to capture on photos. As I have filled all inks in pens over two weeks ago already, I might add that except for a few colours Diamine definitely did not follow the safe route of clean and pretty colours, so more than this weird ink itself I admire Diamine for coming out with a selection of unusual inks mixed into some safe bets that should be usable for everyone. So yeah, I like this ink and then some more of those to follow.

Edited to add: Although this is dubbed as a standard ink, it does have a pretty amazing golden sheen in heavy layers, as you can see on the drops.

I thought Seize the Night was meant to be a black ink. Must be the sheen that makes it look different.

Not quite, it is rather a cool purple/violet-brown. You might have a look at the pics we collect of this and the next Inkvent inks in this thread over at the German PenExchange forum: https://www.penexchange.de/forum_neu/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=31363&start=120#p364580
