Vanness Pen Shop in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA, appears to have the small 12ml bottles of Inkvent Red Edition for $4.50.

Quite possibly removed from in-stock units of the Inkvent Red Edition calendar that didn't got sold last year, as opposed to being a Diamine retail product; that'd be my guess.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

If you were alluding to what I said, I was speculating that replacement sets of inks (in 7ml bottles for the Blue Edition, and 12ml bottles for the Red Edition) to fit inside the Inkvent Calendar housing won't be made available as a retail product. Offering large bottles of individual Inkvent Red Edition ink colours, with which one can refill the old bottles, as standalone retail products was always going to happen given Diamine has done so with the Inkvent Blue Edition colours in 2020.

I knew what you meant, but to be fair to you (without reading through the whole thread and other associated ones) I think there were others who felt the inks wouldn't be released as big bottles later.

BTW, I filtered out the shimmer particles from Tempest.

It's a lovely blue/grey ink and works well in the office.

Ink has good water resistance as well at least on the papers I've tried.

I prefer it in broader nibs b/c you can see the variation more.  It is not a particularly wet ink so it helps to tame the pelikan a bit.

I wonder which of Diamine's inks standard inks would be close to it?  Blue/Black?

I cleaned Storm from an FPR Himalaya — which of course does not have an effective cap seal — last night. The piston was stuck (in halfway position) inside the converter, which in turn was difficult to unscrew from the gripping section; so it appears the ink could cause clogging in some pens. However, once I actually managed to get water into contact with the sticky globs, they dissolved readily; it was just difficult to do when the piston wouldn't move and the converter wouldn't readily detach.

This is the clear tube component from a HongDian converter, after holding All The Best for (just over) three months, and then cleaned with:

  • water under a running tap
  • a long soak in water (at room temperature)
  • flushing with pressurised jets of water
  • soaking in dilute solution of ammonia and dishwashing detergent
  • two five-minute cycles, before and after soaking, in an ultrasonic cleaner
  • a slender enough ‘bottle brush’
  • a rolled up piece of paper towel to provide abrasion and water absorption

You can see the various ‘stops’ where my wife had occasional driven the piston forward manually to prime the feed and/or rectify an ink flow problem, during the three months of so of usage.

Thank you in advance, but I'm not actually looking for suggestions on how to remove the stains from the converter's wall; they don't bother me much. I'm only sharing this photo so that users who intend to fill non-c/c-filled pens, e.g. piston-fillers and eyedropper-fillers, that use the barrels directly as ink reservoirs with either clear walls or ink windows won't be taken by surprise that All The Best from Diamine Inkvent Red Edition may not be so easy to completely remove without a trace.

Spoiler

For what it's worth, I do not intend to fill the HongDian converter pictured above with either Sailor Doyou (which I have) or Noodler's Ink Rattler Red Eel (which I don't have), just to find out whether it would remove the stains. To me, that's an exercise best left to those who care about not staining their pen's barrel or ink window, then discovered that All The Best has stained it (which it may or may not do, depending on the actual material of the reservoir wall, as well as how long the ink stays there), and want desperately to remedy the situation. I feel my job is to ‘warn’ others, since I've observed what has happened to the converter (and my attempts at cleaning it proved not entirely successful), and not to either find a remedy or build confidence for others to go ahead and use the ink without contending with this as a problem.
