"Demented cellist" is great -- I've always wanted one of those!

Don't be so sure.

Alas, [Seize the Night] smells to me somewhat like my bottle of Diamine Sargasso Sea, albeit a little less strong, and that smell just makes me feel sick. …‹snip›… So I'm only putting this ink into a unit of the cheapest variant of the Jinhao 51A I have here.

I just cleaned out that pen, after my wife has been using it for two months, and I'm glad to report that I detect no such smell in the pen when it was done.

I don't need several sheen+shimmer inks from each season or edition of a line of ink. In the Inkvent Blue Edition, Winter Miracle was my pick for the best one of those; this time around, I think Winter Spice is the best out of those.

If ‘you’ (i.e. anyone else here) are keen on Winter Spice, you may want to test a piece of equivalent clear resin for staining from prolonged exposure to that ink, before filling a barrel-cavity-as-ink-reservoir demonstrator pen with it. Not that it wouldn't be a good general precaution anyway; but the converter in which I was using that ink now has a permanent hot pink  all around the interior wall, that neither soaking in dilute ammonia nor gentle scrubbing with Herbin fountain pen cleaning liquid can remove. 😡

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

I saw your picture. If you have some vintage script blue black ink, or some sailor do you, I think those stains will come right out.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Thanks. I'll try putting some Doyou in that converter (and write with it).

And I see that Cult Pens have just posted to say that the 'Red Edition' inks can be preordered now and will be out in April.

Weren't there people on this thread only a month ago saying this wouldn't happen? I'm glad to see it. There arent many I want, but there are a few I definitely want.

I hope they come in the bottles with the little feet.

If you were alluding to what I said, I was speculating that replacement sets of inks (in 7ml bottles for the Blue Edition, and 12ml bottles for the Red Edition) to fit inside the Inkvent Calendar housing won't be made available as a retail product. Offering large bottles of individual Inkvent Red Edition ink colours, with which one can refill the old bottles, as standalone retail products was always going to happen given Diamine has done so with the Inkvent Blue Edition colours in 2020.

Seize the Night & Nightshade.

'Nightshade' seems like a subversive name for a Christmas theme. Isn't it typically used for a kind of highly toxic berry? I like the idea of having a bottle labeled 'Nightshade' - maybe I will add a little sticker with the skull & crossbones hazard symbol for poison ...

Come to think of it, a series of inks using the names of different poisons would be terrific marketing, right?

Nightshades are a family of plants that include tobacco, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, and potatoes. Nightshades contain alkaloids that may be poisonous in large amounts.

Yes, but, still, don't most people associate the word with poison? I can't imagine Diamine was thinking about tobacco, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, or potatoes for a Christmas theme either... 😄

No clue - I don't even know what color this ink is 🙂

Mistletoe is very closely associated with Christmas, and it's poisonous...(irrelevant but sort of interesting)

The ink for Day 15 in the Inkvent Red Edition is Night Shade, not Nightshade, though.
