Seeking recommendations for modern Japanese workhorse

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

 Shouldn't it be, "All work and no play makes jack a dull colt?"  ;)  I had an idea for a drawing last night as I was falling asleep, but now I can't remember it.  No worries, it'll come back to me eventually.

That's a good one! I thought about contributing to that topic, but the original poster started out by saying he didn't want a Pilot Custom 823, which is my daily user modern Japanese workhorse. I should have started drawing, instead.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

Thanks! My horse started off having a equine body, but then I looked at what I drew (modelling after some of the Japanese breeds, e.g. the Dosanko or the Mikayo horse), it looked more likely a donkey. Now that was funny. :(

In my case, it fails to transmit your hilarious attention to detail, such as the family portrait in the montblanc cracked housing, crabby sailor, the stickers on the glass door of the clinic so people don't smash into it, etc.

Thank you for the feedback. Just trying to make up for my lack of artistic talent, and I'm not saying that out of mock humility. If I were a better artist, and could capture with fewer pen strokes and/or details to communicate the content I wanted to include, I would. I was reading How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way by Stan Lee and John Buscema, and it's astounding how much they could convey in just a few sketch lines barely forming a stick figure. Whereas I just can't help myself but colour in the ink bottles above (to somewhat match the look of actual objects I see in real life), thus messing up and losing a lot of things that were there and could have come across better with less ink and fewer lines (e.g. the pips on the Diamine bottle, which aren't very visible in my finalised drawing). The sunglasses on the bottles just distract from what I was trying to say, too.

Ah well. All part of a learning journey.

Lesson learned, don't leave your pens and inks unattended! 😱

Seriously, don't knock your skills - you're doing really well, and should you choose to continue doing these, no doubt you'll continue to improve. :)

I didn't want our thread to languish, but don't have ideas for new drawings at the moment, so here's another oldie (from a discussion of socialized medicine) - not a stick man,  but stick-ish medicine containers:

The next pen I get that can't be ID'd is going to get the moniker "John" or maybe "J.D." in honor of this cartoon.
