Sailor Ink Studio 224

Ink Studio 224 is another one of those multi-hue inks that are very popular recently. The colour ranges from a pale greenish grey to a dirty pink/purple, depending on the paper and the wetness of your pen. The smear shows that it separates into a bright green and a dirty pink. The dirty pink part seems to be fluorescent.

It has a really dry flow and is unpleasant to write with.

All images are scans colour-corrected with grey card, except close-up photos which are also white-balanced with a grey card.

Phew!  Someone's been busy! :)  Thanks for yet another.  I kinda like this color, but it still seems too pale - makes me want to squint.  Maybe @Tas could draw some pretty flowers to go with the salmon fillets. ;) :P :D

Another gorgeous review - thank you :)

I love this ink - it's right up there with my favourite Studio colours. Sadly, they're a bit hard to get hold of in Europe at the moment, which I gather is because of their relocating their central facilities to mainland Europe (they were in the UK pre-Brexit).

Unfortunatley, the delicious colour swipes have just thrown up a couple of very desirable colours that I know I'm not going to be able to resist. The more I use them, the more I love paler, less saturated inks.

I like the look, but I also liked the look of Sailor HaHa until I discovered that I needed my widest nib, Tomoe River and ten times magnification (on my iPhone) to see any thing other than light blue.

Here it would be light gray.

Thank you for the review. But too pale for me. Very interesting color shift effect in the enlargements. Not interesting enough for me to own any, or even a sample. 😼

Interesting ink. I like the multi-hue facet of it. But it looks really really pale, even with your music nib. I guess this ink won’t work well for writing with a F/M nib - the result will probably be too light to read.

Thanks for showing it so well. A pleasure to read your review!
