I keep looking at the Pro-Gear Slim Blue Dwarf, but my budget hasn't extended quite that far;

Cult Pens is offering that pen as an Early Bird Black Friday sale item at the moment, and can be ordered‡ for £75 inclusive of shipping to the US.

With the application of a 10% site-wide discount code.

Never really did a check on this but am now surprised:

Pilot

- Capless x2

- Custom 74, 92, 912, 823

- Prera x2

- MR

Add to this list of Pilots, a Justus, another Capless and also a Capless Fermo.

Pilot is now the most frequently featured pen brand in my growing accumulation of pens.

My solitary Izumo has acquired some compatriots too .......

Taccia Tanto Enhanced LE

Namiki Yukari Royale Vermillion

Namiki Yukari Royale Black

Namiki Yukari Maki-e

Namiki Yukari Chinkin

The Namiki Yukaris, both sizes, have become some of my favourite pens.

My Japanese pens:

  • Nakaya long cigar blue dragon, ordered in February. I just love this pen! The material, size, weight, aesthetic, nib,  color are all heaven in a pen for me.
  • Nakaya Naka Ai Shiro tamenuri. Another beloved pen
  • Sailor 1911 standard, Pro Gear Full size and pro gear slim. These have great nibs and are perfect and understated for everyday use, meetings etc.
  • Platinum Lilas medium nib
  • Platinum Lavande fine nib--these are great work pens with a little sparkle. I mostly grade online these days so haven't used them heavily as I used to.
  • Pilot VP (twilight) used rarely but so pretty and writes so well.
  • pilot 74 which came with a converter superglued to the section (which really put me off Pilot). However, I bought it off the dusty shelf of an office supply company years ago so who knows how it got that way.

Japanese Pens I want:

Namiki Yukari Vermillion

Nakaya Piccolo

Nakaya Dorsl Fin 2

hmmmm...

I was just counting how many pens I have yesterday, LOL

I have 32 Pilot Parallel in various width and all different inks that are always ready for painting/drawing.

36 are currently still on the market fountain pen, 12 of them are Japanese pen.

63 Vintage pens, only 4 are western pens and the rest are Japanese pens. But 5 of them I would like to find new owners. That brings the number to 54,  33 of them are pocket/mini fountain pens.

Currently inked 7 pocket pens, and Pilot Custom K500KS Kaede H774, 18K broad nib.

If it interests you, I have attached my vintage pen spread sheet, and that is how I keep track of all my babies. (The last 5 are what I am trying to find new owners for. )

I'm just tallying up my Japanese pens.

Platinum 3776 - the family is now up to 16. Not a complete set, and I probably will not be buying the latest LEs at $500 plus; the price is too rich for what you get. I have a couple of older celluloids I'm still looking for, and if I see a 'lantern' version or the Carnelian I could be tempted. My favourite buy  was the Nagasawa Apricot, just a lovely, lovely pen. Best buy: the Shungyo which was sold me as a Bordeaux 🙂

Pilot Custom Heritage 92 - three demo colours, blue, orange and clear, my favourite fine nib pens

Plus a full set of Parallels and a lot of VPens.

Sailor - Tagayasan and a 1911 demo.

The Platinum changed a lot last year; the Sailors will probably go; and I'm on the lookout for the Pilot Custom Kaede.

What I *want*: Eboya, a dorsal fin Nakaya, a Stylo Art or two, a Hakase.

What I'll probably get: a custom Kaede and perhaps a couple of the missing Platinums if I find them at the right price.

Too many pens, too little time!

I would think so. The nib was ground to a stub. That is hardly particular. And even if you think about the customizations of all dimensions of the pen itself, why would that be any different than having pens in different standard dimensions? Hakase are pens made with superb craftsmanship and perfectly tuned Pilot nibs. A treasure to own and to write with in any circumstance.

Dear Doug,

what a collection!

may I ask - is the body of the Namiki Chinkin crane FNVC-10M-T urushi-covered brass and not resin? I have seen it described both ways . . .
thank you

I'd LOVE to take credit for that collection. Unless I'm getting a really great surprise in the mail, the person you need to respond to is Jandrese.

That is what I what I was commenting on.
