I wondered if someone would bring up Michael Hedges before I could get to this!  I like everything he did and still listen to him frequently, even after all the years he's been gone.  Got to see him live once, in Austin at the Paramount.

I was putting my work over everything else during the last one year. It didn't do any good for me at work, neither on the personal front.

 

Work is not life - it is just a means which enables you to live the life you want. If you can love your work, good for you. If you don't, find another one. If you can't find another job, you just need to adapt. In any event, don't take it personal and let your work and the difficulties at work define you.

Wow...I'm in the complete opposite camp.
Work is the only place I feel alive...the only sense of purpose I have in my life.
Family, friends, health, integrity...all things on auto-pilot that don't seem to need my interaction or involvement.
The only area requesting my involvement, attention and interaction is work.
Sadly, I cannot marry it, hang out with it or do anything besides spend time there that I cannot get back.
What does that make me?
What am I...what is my purpose?
