I have a vintage (W. Germany) 146 that leaves ink on my fingers. To whom would you send for repair?

Depends how vintage. If it has brass piston threads then Montblanc will replace anything that needs replacing (feeder case, piston assembly, forepart section) as a level one service. If plastic piston threads that you *have* to keep then it would need to be a repair person who has the required parts and can do the work.

Does it have any visible damaged parts or cracks?

Sometimes those 80-90s Montblanc pens just need to be re-sealed at the joints again.

I use bee-wax for this.

Check the section for cracks. If there are cracks, then you will need a replacement part.

If no cracks, then (as Michael R points out) these sections sometimes just need to be re-tightened, or re-sealed.

If there are cracks and if you are determined to keep the pen original, then Dione's advice is good: seek out an independent repair person. Assuming they have the correct parts to hand, they can simply swap out the defective part.(Others can advise you about technicians in your area.)

It'd be a relatively easy DIY repair - but, the parts are almost impossible to find.

If you just want the pen repaired and working, you can send it in to MB for service.*

The last W GERMANY 146 I sent in (to Hamburg) came back with the original nib in a totally new pen.

(It still had the original cap, I was surprised to see that it perfectly fitted the modern body.)

Good luck.

Just so you know, when you select quote a post you can also post your reply on that same post. Currently your thread is all fractured and has become really difficult to read....
