Help identifying vintage Pelikan

Hi!

I need a little help identifying a vintage Pelikan. It is said to be a 140 (that's also engraved in de cap ring). However, I've not been able to find a striped tortoise 140 with the cap that comes with the pen. Am I just not looking hard enough or is this some kind of mix between a cap of 140 and another pen? I've added some pictures I was sent.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

My thought too. In I don't think the 140 ever came in tortoise.

Could be a 140's nib also. Looks a bit small to be a 400/400nn nib. That might let it fit the cap; though the 140's cap is a long one.

Should be a semi-flex nib, either way. It has the proper combs/rills for semi-flex.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

Have a look at the section and the turning knob, if they are original to the tortoise 400NN, they should be a very dark brown. In contrast the cap of the 140 on the other hand has to be black

Please, take a closer look at the upper part of the barrel, where it joins the piston mechanism. Is there a “PELIKAN GÜNTHER WAGNER” inscription around the barrel perhaps?
