Noodler's Zhivago

Can the color change? I have an old bottle kept safely & it seems to be blue from just using it in a clean Twsbi 580 with a stub nib. I was expecting a dark green or black from what I understand.

Did you shake the bottle before using? See if there is any dye settled down on the bottom?

Also note that some of Nooder's inks have been reformulated over the years...

Excellent review! Now I have another ink to add to my wish list...

I too have discovered that some Noodlers inks require a gentle shake when sitting unused for a while.

Thanks. I decided to buy a new bottle and see what happens. It seems mine has gone from blue to black now.

Not sure how I missed this thread before now.  I had always passed on trying Zhivago, since I don't generally like murky green/blacks.  But namerehsnoom's review (including the -- as usual -- stellar artwork) is now having me rethink this....

Also -- as usual -- my wallet is NOT amused....

my most recent bottle (the second that I've purchased, but which was probably almost 15 years old) also separated into a royal blue liquid and a layer of blackish sludge at the bottom of the bottle...

It did not return to dark green when thoroughly shaken and was dumped down the drain, with little or no ceremony, it will however be missed ;)

this just occurred late last month.

in its life before this happened, it had never separated into component colors, though it did occasionally get gently shaken before filling a pen, despite not seeming to need it.

it did however seem to have lost some of its vibrancy and saturation when last I had successfully used it a few years ago.

Great review!

I have a bottle of  Zhivago but I have not used it a great deal, but I will now.

I really like your Ghostwalker drawing. I have many sketchbook filled with all media, I will try some Zhivago drawings myself...
