Kanwrite SuperFlex

I recently got the Kanwrite superflex. I did not expect that smell though! I wonder if I can wash it off. Anyway, it’s my first flex fountain pen. And since it says super flex, I thought it would really be flexible. You need to have a little pressure to flex it unlike dip nibs. I might need to learn the technique to have the variations of thickness cause so far, what I can do is either thin or thick only. I’m a heavy hand so it all looked like medium nib writing.

Hi there!

I have a Kanwrite Desire with a flex nib that I use every day. I just love it!

It doesn't smell bad, and doesn't flex much.

I tried a Kanwrite flex nib, but did not like it. I could not detect much flex, and the nib was somewhat dry and scratchy. Not what I expected.

I've swapped it out with another nib...

My experience with Kanwrite flex nibs are in general that they need both time and patience to get them to what they are capable of, but then again I never used a vintage or dip flex nib so can't really compare them. Personally I like them, they for me, offer just enough line variation in writing that they dont affect the normal writing look and add enough flair to otherwise normal work. For ultra flex nibs, I have in EF and well that one is most definitely has more feedback then my F flex nib (no surprises here), still its not scratchy either. I don't find myself hard pressing on them to get variation (not anymore at least, they did feel stiff when I started out with them and got better over time, thus me saying that they require time)

None feel dry to me, but I find that wetter and finned feeds work better with these nibs over the regular plastic ones on desire. Never encountered the smell (ink smell in pen, yes....likely from test. Smell in nib only, nope never encountered it).

Now its definitely not the best flex out there, far from it, but its far better then some nails claiming to be flex nibs in my experience😉.

I purchased two Kanwrite Flex nibs from KiwiPens, a vendor in India, and received a third for free. They are very gracious!
The Kanwrite flex nibs were much much stiffer than the flex nibs offered by FPR. They are made of a much thicker steel and require more force to get line variation. Mine were smooth to write with, but the steel used is VERY durable. I could not sharpen or flexify the tines with my tools and ultimately gave up after an hour of grinding. They sit in my parts bin as I cannot grind them to a true EF size line or increase the flex by normal means.
